Stunning Rainbow Gelatin Cake Looks Like An Iridescent Opal Stone

You know the saying—"you eat with your eyes first." Except when you're hangry, of course. In any case, food presentation has taken on a life of its own. Who knew a simple garnish of parsley and a wedge of lemon would just make salmon so much more appetizing than without?

When food is absolutely stunning to look at, you may only be eating with your eyes, and that's totally the case with rainbow gelatin cake.

Doesn't this slice of cake look like an iridescent opal stone?

Twitter user Hiroya Tsunekawa created this stunning "rainbow milk cake."

Surprisingly, it's not super difficult to make—it's just a tad time consuming.

Hiroya was kind enough to share the recipe! Here's what you'll need if you want to tackle it yourself: Kanten (agar powder), water, sugar, milk, and shaved ice syrup or fruit juice.

You'll also need to make separate gelatin mixtures for all the colors you want to include in your cake.

Once they've all cooled in the fridge, you cut each color into cubes and arrange in a fun checkered pattern on top of the clear cooled gelatin mixture.

And that's it! When all is said and done, you'll have a light, sweet, creamy, and colorful treat to really wow your Instagram feed.

If you need some encouragement, just check out some of the rainbow cakes Hiroya's followers are making.

Will you be giving this recipe a try? Let us know!
