So, how's everyone's 2020 going? Pretty insane, right? It's hard to even remember everything that has happened around the world in just the first five months of this ridiculous year.

The Australian bushfires were this year. It feels like forever ago when we were all donating to relief funds and making mittens for burned koalas, doesn't it?

Even when Einstein was talking about time being relative, I'm not sure he could have imagined how broken it feels right now.

It's the last day of my work week. I keep having to remind myself of that, because it feels like I just had my weekend and it's time to start the week again.

While simultaneously feeling like the longest work week ever.

Things are just really weird right now and no one is equipped to handle the strangeness.

There was a brief period of positivity at the beginning. People reached for the silver lining where even if the world was upside down, at least we could have more time with family or pursue that long-delayed project.

Then reality decided to get comfortable. People were losing their jobs, getting sick, working long hours for little money in essential industries, homeschooling is really hard, your gray hair hasn't been dyed or cut in three months, and if your partner chews their food loudly one more time, you may throttle them...

Reality didn't just set in. It bashed us over the head, laughed at our shock, and keeps on dancing to a song only it can hear.

Gone are scheduled days with blocks of "work time", "school time", and "relax time" carefully broken out for maximum efficiency and routine.

Instead, we're putting one foot in front of the other, just moving forward on a timeline that somehow feels never ending while also about to drop off a cliff at any time.

Some of us are doing more than others, but we are all doing our best.

And some of us are going to stumble, especially without our support network as readily available.

So give yourself a bit of a break and don't get discouraged if the task you started a week ago is still half done and dinner was a pint of ice cream. Have the ice cream and try again tomorrow.
