'A Cinderella Story' Actress Mary Pat Gleason Dies At 70

Mary Pat Gleason, a prolific character actress and writer who began acting in 1982, passed away on June 2nd after a fight with cancer, Variety reports. Her manager confirmed the news, adding that Gleason was "a fighter until the end."

Gleason appeared in numerous films and television shows, and won an Emmy for her work on the writing team for Guiding Light.

Gleason was well-known for her many appearances as a character actress.

Gleason rose to fame starring on Guiding Light, but was also more recently well-known for her role as the waitress in the hit film A Cinderella Story and her recurring role on the sitcom Mom as Mary.

Gleason's loved ones have taken to social media to express their grief at her passing.

"Mary Pat Gleason was in the first episode I ever shot of @mom_cbs and I loved every time she returned. I can honestly say that I have never met a person that was ALL goodness and kindness like she was," shared actress Beth Hall.

"RIP my dear friend. You will be sorely missed but never forgotten."

Fans took to social media as well to share their favorite roles of hers, including a small but incredibly memorable and iconic turn as a cantankerous nurse in an episode of Friends.

Gleason appeared in small roles on many shows, including Desperate Housewives, Will & Grace, Saved By The Bell and Grey's Anatomy.

"Sad to hear about the passing of Mary Pat Gleason. Wonderful actor. Wonderful person," tweeted one fan.

Gleason appeared in over a hundred television shows and films over the span of her career.
