'Riverdale' Star Vanessa Morgan Slams The Show's Treatment Of Black Actors

It's so inspiring to see people stand up for themselves and for others when treatment is unfair, especially when those people in the entertainment world have millions of followers and a huge amount of influence!

Vanessa Morgan, who plays Toni on Riverdale, is now speaking up about the show's unfair treatment of her and other black actors in the series.

Vanessa began with a tweet in which she proclaimed she was done being quiet.

"Tired of how black people are portrayed in Media, tired of us being portrayed as thugs, dangerous, or angry scary people. Tired of us also being used as side kick non dimensional characters to our white leads. Or only used in the ads for diversity but not actually in the show. It starts with the media," she wrote.

Vanessa pointed out that she was the only black series regular and was paid less than her white counterparts.

"Don't even get me started with how Riverdale treated the Pussycats. We had so much more to contribute than standing in the background and adding sass to a storyline. I stand with you," tweeted Asha Bromfield, who played Melody from Josie & The Pussycats on the show.

Hayley Law, who played Valerie in the Pussycats on the show, also spoke up.

"I've felt this from the beginning. We are so much more," tweeted Hayley.

"We are not a trend. We are not your “cool accessory”. We are not your excuse to be a racist and then claim you were “just kidding! Relax”. We are not your cash cow. We are not your click bait," she continued

Lili Reinhart, who stars as Betty, also tweeted her support.

After Vanessa clarified that her issues with Riverdale have nothing to do with her castmates, Lili chimed in with her support.
