Kristen Bell Vows To Raise Her Daughters As 'Anti-Racists'

Kristen Bell is dedicated to raising her kids to be open-minded and compassionate people, and she's not afraid to tell the world that she plans on raising them to be "anti-racists."

Information about the ongoing protests in the U.S. and around the world is rapidly changing and Diply is committed to providing the most recent data as it becomes available. Some of the information in this story may have changed since publication, and we encourage readers to follow their local trusted news outlet(s) to stay up to date on the latest information surrounding these events.

"Anti-racist" is a term that is getting used a lot in the wake of George Floyd's tragic death.

Essentially, what it means is that simply being not racist is not enough, and that people need to be actively engaging with their communities and fighting towards more equality and justice for people of color all around the world.

It looks like Kristen Bell is very on board for this.

In a new interview, Kristen discussed talking about the current political climate with her two daughters.

"I showed my daughters some of the images that are happening right now, because I think that they have more durability and more resilience than we give them credit for," Kristen said of her daughters Delta, 5, and Lincoln, 7.

Kristen explained that she was purposeful in what she showed them.

"Specifically the parallel of what was happening in Michigan, where there were white people yelling in the face of cops, holding guns and nothing was happening, versus people that were sitting on the ground protesting peacefully, being tear-gassed," she explained.

Kristen then revealed that she turned the situation into a dialogue.

"And I said, 'What kind of problems do you see with this picture? Tell me what you're looking at right now.'"

It's awesome that Kristen allows her children to be able to form their own conclusions while still teaching them important lessons.

"And we had a very honest, hard, uncomfortable conversation about what was happening right now," Kristen said.

"Because I will — you can put it on my gravestone — I will raise anti-racists. I will talk about it with them forever," Kristen vowed.

That kind of dedication is really inspiring!

Kristen also said her new children's book, *The World Needs More Purple People*, draws on this message.

Kristen said that while "evolution tells us to look for differences, I want to talk to my kids about looking for sameness, and sameness comes in the form of values and personality and action, not of colors."

We love this!
