Doorbell Camera Films Mom Unexpectedly Giving Birth In A Parking Lot

Life comes at you pretty fast. Sometimes, things happen that are so out of our control and we can't change them. While we try to plan our lives out and stick to that plan, one thing is for sure — things don't always go as we had anticipated. When it comes to planning for a child, every parent wants things to go smoothly. But, sometimes, things are just out of our control.

When pregnant women get closer to their due date, they might worry about when they will go into labor.

Couples usually plan ahead. Some pack hospital bags they can grab on the go. Others have "practice runs" to the hospital to find the fastest route to get there just in time.

Many expecting parents want to get to the hospital before labor really ramps up, signaling that the baby is very close to being born.

Pregnancy and delivery are stressful enough. The last thing any soon-to-be mom wants is the extra stress of not having enough time to get to the hospital, or get ready at home in the case of home births. But, as I said, life happens.

Women undergo tons of stress, overthinking everything that can go wrong.

Some think of traffic jams and giving birth in the car. Others think of their water breaking during a crucial moment in their life. Others wonder what would happen if their partner can't make it there in time.

So-called "natural" births are a widespread and popular birthing method by many moms. Doulas and midwives come into the home or a birthing center to assist in the birthing process, which usually involves a bathtub or a pool.

As well, these moms choose not to have an epidural or other pain management procedure during labor.

Some people wonder why a woman would want to endure a natural birth with no help.

According to an article by Dr. Judith A. Lothian published in The Journal of Perinatal Education, women choose to undergo natural births as a way to give into the natural processes of their bodies.

Women think of it as a process of being one with their bodies.

"Confident women who are supported and encouraged and who enjoy the freedom to tap into their own wisdom find deep satisfaction in giving birth naturally. The process itself prepares mother and baby perfectly in every way to continue on their journey together," the study said.

Natural births are becoming more popular in North America.

With help from a doula or a midwife, moms are able to have an intimate birthing experience in their own home or in a natural birthing center that has everything they will need.

However, sometimes moms have to rush for their natural births, too!

When your water breaks and you go into labor, sometimes that baby is just ready to come out right then and there. According to a video shared by Natural Birthworks Birth Center in Florida, this situation is exactly what happened to one couple.

Caught on the doorbell camera of the center, one mom gave birth to her baby right in the parking lot of Natural BirthWorks.

The mom and husband were on their way in when her contractions just got to be too much. She stopped, and her midwife came out to meet her. Before they knew it, the baby had arrived!

Everything was caught on camera — the entire birthing process!

With only a few seconds to spare, the midwife got her gloves on and this strong momma pushed her baby out, standing up in the parking lot. Even the cops came by to make sure she was okay!

The center shared the video on YouTube with the mother's permission.

They wrote:

"This momma had a super fast labor. In Midwife terms, it was precipitous. When dad called a few minutes before arrival and said she feels like pushing gloves were on and ready. Although I thought we'd have time to get inside, this little one had other plans."

The police even came by to help.

"The Police just so happened to be across the street & heard the commotion and walked over to see if help was needed.. Multitasking by catching a baby and letting them know we were all good was quite the experience! One of the most exciting births of 2020. One we won't forget! Mom & baby are doing amazing and we can all laugh at how awesome this birth was. Especially because the cops looked pretty shell shocked!" the center said in the video's description.

Clearly, natural births take a lot of strength.

I applaud this mother who did her birth and labor naturally and in the most unlikely of places. Kudos to this strong mom!

And, what a memorable birth!

I'm almost positive that this little one will be hearing their birth story for the rest of their life: "Remember when you were born and Momma gave birth to you in the parking lot?" A true story for the grandkids.
