When summer calls, it's shouting for the coldest of cold drinks. That's where blended ice drinks come in clutch. Frozen margs, daiquiris, and piña coladas are among the most popular summer drinks that people just can't get enough of.
But have you ever heard of the Bushwacker?
For southerners, it's a Bushwacker.
I know. The name is a little...aggressive.
It was actually popularized in 1975 after the Pensacola, Florida Sandshaker Bar owner visited the Sapphire Beach Village on St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Entranced by its magic, the owner just knew it needed to be brought home for more people to discover its spellbinding qualities.
Every restaurant or bartender has their own recipe, but most are made with rum, vodka, Kahlua, Bailey's, Cream of Coconut, creme de cacao, and Amaretto, with plenty of indulgent toppings like whipped cream, chocolate drizzle, and sweet maraschino cherries.
Most just blend all the ingredients together with ice until it reaches a creamy consistency, but some recipes call for extra milk to really get that milkshake consistency.
Chances are, you already have a majority of the ingredients in your home.
Of course, we use "sipping" loosely here — not only are they apparently delicious, but they're also quite strong, hence its very apt name.
If you're not careful, you might just get "bushwhacked" by the cocktail.
