This soon led to a whole slew of responses, most of which are included in this list 10+ movies that were overhyped (according to fans)
The John Huges flick has always been considered a classic. The cast even recently reunited virtually!
But not everyone is a fan. "Movie is 100% garbage. I couldn’t even finish it lmao," wrote this user.
The movie is practically hyped up for Timothée Chalamet alone.
However, it's being dragged on Twitter for being "way too long and boring." It's even being called predatory in nature for the age gap between the two main characters.
The Korean film swept the 2019 Oscars, but it couldn't earn recognition from everyone.
"Parasite because the way literally no one explained that stupid relationship between the mc and the girl he tutored lol," this Twitter user wrote.
This Twitter user argued that movies based on books don't always do the book justice.
"Love, Simon was wack. The book was so much better, but I saw how much hype the movie was getting on here, so I watched it and,,,,,,, It was horrible. Leah was never supposed to "fall in love" with Simon and SHE GOT MAD AT HIM FOR NOT NOTICING. there was just so much wrong in it."
"Booksmart. It has its moments and was touchy, but just took WAY too long to get started for me," wrote this Twitter user.
Uh oh, don't let the film's director, Olivia Wilde, see this! It was her directioral debut.
This is another film that fans think was better as a book, which is unsurprising.
It's being called "boring " on Twitter. "Why did people like it sm I feel like nothing really happened," wrote this user.
The Netflix movie, starring Sandra Bullock, was majorly hyped up when it first came out.
"Bird Box was so overrated," wrote this person. "The concept was good but the movie did it so poorly i was tired 30mins in."
The fact that the movie was so long didn't sit well with some fans.
"the irishman was pure torture," this user wrote. "idk i dont care for that at all its just old men beefing for almost 4 hours straight," they later added.
When the movie first came out, it was all people could talk about. But some liked it less than others.
"Bohemian rhapsody was horrible I can’t believe anyone actually liked that movie," wrote this Twitter user.
Saoirse Ronan fans, close your eyes! This Twitter user called the film "average."
The film's director, Greta Gerwig, was even dragged.
"People need to honestly STOP making it seem like Greta Gerwigs films are the best films ever made. They aren’t. She also isn’t the only female director in Hollywood."
"Midsommar didn’t really have a plot imo it was just things happening," wrote this person.
The psychological thriller was also criticized as being "long & predictable." They even felt like the director, Ari Aster, rushed to get the movie out following the success of Hereditary.
People got really riled up when one Twitter user called the film "boring."
Sadly, though, some people agreed.

The steamy film has taken the world by storm, but not everyone understands the hype.
"I did not know it was an erotic film until way later. When the guy kidnapped and manhandled her, I was like WHAT ARE WE WATCHING, WHY ARE WE WATCHING THIS," wrote this user.
While the film was praised for its female lead and diverse cast, the overall storyline didn't sit well with some fans.
"It was great to see a female protag and an overall diverse cast but idk that movie just didn’t do it for me," wrote this user.
Most of us use Facebook every day, but not all of us want a film on how the social network was made.
"Watched it recently for the first time and my bf was like 'I like how they’re trying to make building a website seem [expletive]," wrote this user.
Not even the gorgeous Ryan Gosling could save some people's opinions about the film, unfortunately.

It's considered one of Adam Sandler's best, but not by everyone.
"Overhyped, not as stressful as I had been told, pacing makes no sense in some sequences, every basketball sequence had me confused tf was going on, Sandler does great but my God the story is weird," wrote this Twitter user
