16+ Times Our Brains Needed A Second To Process Things

Most of the time, luck has it that even if our pictures aren't good, they turn out in a way that at least makes sense. Our eyes may be closed or we may be making a weird face, but it's nothing a quick delete can't fix.

But every now and then, we may find ourselves staring at a photo that we can't bring ourselves to get rid of. Even if we knew exactly what we were looking at, we might find that it's hard not to see a mind-bending effect thanks to the lighting or the way things are arranged in the frame.

And while these accidental illusions can be compelling to keep, it's even more fun to put them online and weird everybody out as the people on this list have done.

If you don't immediately see this and think we're looking out from inside a flying car, you're probably the person who took this photo.

Reddit | redvakho

But what that person knows and the rest of us don't is that this was what the scenery happened to look like when they parked on top of a mountain.

I suppose that narrows the location down to mountains you can drive on top of.

Although it doesn't take long to figure out what's happening, the inital shock of seeing a bird with teeth is a strong one.

Reddit | Niyi_M

Sure, it's obvious that those teeth belong to the person behind the bird, but they were also perfectly positioned to freak us out.

It's probably hard to even notice the illusion here at first, but it's pretty trippy when you do see it.

Reddit | Paublo57

Notice how Noel Redding on the left looks he's subtly poking his apparently giant hand down Jimi Hendrix's pants?

It's actually Hendrix's hand, but it definitely creates a weird effect when the rest of his arm isn't in the shot. Some commenters believed this effect was intentional, but the unfortunate truth is that nobody in this photo is alive to confirm or deny that.

That water doesn't seem to be frozen, so how this girl walking on it?

Reddit | MaxMeriwether

Unfortunately, the likely answer is that we're not witnessing a miracle so much as a an incredibly well-timed photo.

She's still jumping in the water and hasn't broke through the surface like the boy next to her yet.

I can only hope that this photo wasn't used for a house listing because it'll probably convince potential buyers that giant spiders live here.

Reddit | Orangebathtowel

Although the spider we're looking at here is likely pretty large, it's also a lot closer to the camera than the house is.

It's just kind of hard to see the web it's dangling from.

This almost looks like some avant-garde hyper-realistic painting, but it's a real photo.

Reddit | bossy202

It just happened to be taken on an overcast day that makes it hard to tell where the water ends and the sky begins.

So instead of a boat's reflection on the water, it looks like we're witnessing some experimental craft hover among the clouds.

Even though it can't be possible, it definitely looks like these Formula One cars are hovering slightly above the ground.

Reddit | BearGrelhados

I suppose the light just happened to hit the cars' bumpers in a weird way that makes the tire's shadows look like they're underneath them?

After all, you'd think we'd have heard about the invention of flying cars.

Sadly, it only appears that this city holds the gateway to Toon Town.

Reddit | jsudd007

In reality, a very talented street artist just made a mural that makes it look like somebody managed to draw all this building's windows in.

If it's any consolation, this Toon Town looks like it would've just been Understated Graphic Novel-Ville anyway, so the differences wouldn't be that big.

Believe it or not, there are actually two hyenas in this picture.

Reddit | issa_adnan2

We can clearly see that the mother has her mouth wide open, but her baby's face is blocking the part of her face on our left as it looks to the right.

It's easier to see what's going on when you count the ears.

While this kid's disc golf shot seemed to go pretty far, we can stop commending him on his incredible balance.

Reddit | a_magic_squirrel

Despite how it looks, he does actually have two legs. He just happened to position himself so that one of them is completely blocked by the rest of his body.

It might seem like this python is resting on this person's leg...until you realize one of their feet is in the wrong place.

Reddit | dirtynightclown

While the right leg is bare, the left one appears to be covered, which makes it both easy to miss it and to confuse their arm for their leg.

Of course, that's assuming the snake wasn't stealing all of your focus in the first place.

Apparently, we're looking at a picture of an average-sized man's leg.

Reddit | giceman715

And it's not like this bathroom goes further back than it seems. Instead, this man works at a pre-school, which means the toilet and sink in this bathroom are smaller than usual.

At first, it's hard not to get the impression that this cat has an incredibly long tail.

Reddit | rgaywala

However, it eventually becomes clear where its tail really ends when you spot the crinkled texture of the tubing behind it.

I assure you that no magician and nobody else for that matter has sawed this woman in half.

Reddit | JimFancyPants

So why does it look like the two halves of her body aren't connected? Well, she's simply wearing something under her black shirt that blends in with the ground behind her.

There is a bunny in this photo, but we don't have to worry about the fact that it looks like it's being stretched along its cage.

Reddit | Mayuna_cz

What we're seeing here is the picture quality and the color of the little hammock it's sitting on working together to make an adorable photo look nightmarish and cartoonish all at once.

It seems odd that a crocodile wouldn't be wearing crocs, but the truth is that it's not wearing anything at all.

Reddit | CrimsonLawbringer

As fun as it would be to imagine a zookeeper going to the trouble of putting sneakers on the animal, that footwear is actually coming from the reflection of the photographer on the glass barrier between visitors and the crocodile.

Even though it's obviously not possible, anyone who saw the cartoon *CatDog* growing up will have a hard time shaking this mental image.

Reddit | eeeeloi

Sadly, we haven't stumbled across a rare double rhino. Instead, a second rhinoceros' head is peeking out from behind the other one's back legs.

While the lack of panic in this cat makes it clear it wasn't sawed in half, the more plausible explanation of a glitched out panormaic shot isn't actually true either.

Reddit | Buncha_bastards

Instead, we're actually looking at two separate cats. One just happened to block its legs with the rest of its body, while the other is essentially doing the opposite.

If you look closely, you can see a little ear peeking out from the cat on the right.

Even I'm not entirely sure what we're looking at here, but I can tell it's three things in one.

Reddit | missaragrace

So despite how it looks, this woman isn't holding a dog between a pair of oversized clown pants.

The dog might be sitting on someone who's lying down while the woman reacts to something unrelated, though.

There are some weird art installations out there, but we're not just looking at a free-standing window maze here.

Reddit | seanssy

It may not look like it, but this is actually the side of a building. The angle obviously doesn't help matters, but the building's triangular design is apparently a big part of the confusion here.
