Gwyneth Paltrow Reveals 16 Year Old Apple Has A Retail Job To Learn 'What Work Is'

Raising children when you're a celebrity comes with some unique challenges that most parents don't have to think about. Do you let them inherit your wealth, or do you make them work for their own?

Gwyneth Paltrow is clearly in the second camp, as her new interview on Rob Lowe's podcast has proven.

Gwyneth Paltrow is notoriously private about her children.

"I won't let them be public on any social media or anything like that, I try to keep them out of the public eye as much as possible," Gwyneth told Rob of her two kids, Apple, 16, and Moses, 14, whom she shares with her ex-husband Chris Martin.

Gwyneth shared that it wasn't always easy keeping them off social media.

"You know, now it's different, 'cause kids are like, 'Can I have a YouTube channel?' and I'm like, 'No, you can't. Absolutely not,' " Gwyneth told Rob, but it's clear that she's only got their best interests at heart.

"As a parent you think, all I can do for these kids is teach them right from wrong and teach them what work is," Gwyneth said.

"I really have tried not to just hand them things," she continued, before revealing that Apple had gotten herself a retail job. While she didn't say where exactly Apple was working, she did add, “I think it’s really been interesting to be her mother because as she’s come into her own."

“It’s almost like watching her harness her own power with every passing year."
