Security Guards Go Extra Mile And Care For Office Employees' Plants In Lockdown

If you're like me and you've been working from home since the pandemic began, I'm sure you find yourself reminiscing about your office every once in awhile. Specifically, your desk space and what was left there when the world flipped on its head.

Personally, I know that on my desk right now there is a very cute tumbler cup from Starbucks that I miss dearly, some Disney figurines likely collecting dust, and a cozy blanket that I wouldn't hate having here at home now that the weather's starting to take a turn.

Thankfully, there's nothing *living* on my desk that I have to be concerned about, but the same can't be said for every WFH employee right now.

Some people out there might be sitting at home thinking about that cute little plant they kept next to their monitor at work; the one that they lovingly watered every single morning, and that they can only assume is now 100 percent dead.

But for one UK office, they can rest assured that their precious plant babies have been well-taken care of.

As it turns out, the security team at their office building has been going above and beyond the call of duty during lockdown.

Tumblr user wafflerisa shared a now-viral post explaining that when the virus hit the country, it happened so quickly that there was little time to prepare. So when her law firm was suddenly shut down and all employees were instructed to work from home, they were seriously caught off-guard.

"Our office building emptied overnight when everyone was told to work from home," she recalled. "No time to clear our desks, no time to bring office plants home."

Months later, she and her fellow coworkers could only assume that their abandoned plants had died in their absence.

But a surprise email revealed that their plants are all perfectly fine — in fact, they've been flourishing during lockdown, thanks to the efforts of the building's incredible security team.

The email included a photo featuring every single plant in the office looking positively healthy despite having been left behind.

As it turns out, one of the guards just happens to be a florist, and knew exactly how to make sure those plants thrived, no matter what the circumstances outside the building.

"The security team has moved EVERY SINGLE PLANT from all 12 FLOORS of our office building into the cafeteria," wafflerisa wrote in her post. "It’s been turned into a temporary greenhouse."

Cacti, succulents, spider plants, terrariums, and potted ferns — all those leafy beauties have been given a new lease on life, thanks to the guards.

But that's not all! These passionate plant "babysitters" have gone the extra mile to ensure each and every green baby is counted for.

"Each plant has been INDIVIDUALLY LABELLED by hand with post-it notes with name and desk location so the plants can go home after lockdown ends," wafflerisa gushed.

Suffice it to say, these little fellas are definitely in good hands while their parents are away.

"The plants are being taken care of tenderly," wafflerisa wrote. "They get sun and water and are spending happy times with other plant friends."

Hopefully everyone will be reunited with their precious babies soon! But in the meantime, they can rest easy knowing there's an unbelievably caring team of individuals going out of their way to keep those plants happy and healthy.
