'Trump Boat Parade' In Texas Ends With Multiple Boats Sinking

A boat parade organized by impassioned Trump supporters in Texas ended with multiple boats underwater and several people in need of rescue, The New York Times reported.

On Saturday, the Travis County Sheriff's Office tweeted that they had responded to "multiple calls involving boats in distress" during the parade on Lake Travis, adding that "several boats did sink."

The event appears to have been organized through Facebook.

According to its Facebook page which has since been taken down, 2,700 users said they would be attending the parade, though it's unclear how many actually ended up on the water Saturday afternoon.

"Boats of all shapes and sizes are encouraged to participate," the description read. "Decorate your boats in patriotic colors and fly as many Trump flags as she can handle. Let's really make a statement!"

Photos and videos shared online of the event show Lake Travis crowded with what appear to be hundreds of boats carrying Trump supporters.

While exact numbers haven't been released, the "exceptional" number of vessels on the water caused incredible waves, a Travis County Sheriff's Office spokesperson told the Times.

It would certainly seem that those waves proved strong enough to flood several boats taking part in the parade.

Amateur video of what one user branded "Dumbkirk" shows boaters having to abandon their sinking vessels as they're swamped by waves.

“No injuries or medical emergencies have occurred as the result of these incidents,” the county's EMS tweeted on Saturday.

However, the Times reports that local firefighters from Lake Travis Fire Rescue had to save several people from the water.

Texas was just one of several "Trump Boat Parades" that had been planned across the country for the first day of Labor Day Weekend.

Others took place in Minnesota, Florida, and New Jersey where residents proudly showed their support for President Trump by touting signs and adorning their vessels with American flags.

Trump has previously praised such displays of support before. In May, he retweeted a video of a boat parade and wrote, "Thank you very much to our beautiful 'boaters.' I will never let you down!"
