I'm sure the title of this article was enough to shatter your heart into a billion devastated little pieces. But before you go off to have a good sob, let me just say that this story has a happy ending.
So, please keep that in mind as you continue.
A dapper-looking rescue puppy had all his hopes and dreams dashed when his new family decided to bail on his adoption, leaving him alone in the shelter wearing a sad little tuxedo.
According to a viral Facebook post from the nonprofit organization Fundación Rescátame in La Calera, Colombia, the sweet pup had been bathed and fitted with a mock tuxedo bandanna, ready to greet his family and start their new lives together.
But sadly, he would go un-adopted that day.
Along with heartbreaking photos of little Vicente patiently waiting in his tuxedo, the group wrote,
"Vicente was left dressed and ruckus and still available for adoption. [His] alleged adopter never came for him. Already when he was ready for a home, bath, [they] cancelled his adoption."
"They ask us why we're so strict with the process, for this reason," the group wrote online. "Because we don't want to have any doubt that our furry ones will be in excellent hands for LIFE."
"If you want to adopt, keep in mind that it's a commitment forever, animals are not things you can dispose of when you miss the desire to have a dog," the group added.
Just a few days after the poor pup's tragic story went viral on Facebook, the organization was flooded with adoption requests and were able to find the perfect family for this deserving dog.
On Instagram, the group shared a photo of Vicente with his new owners and wrote, "We want to tell you that Vicente has already been adopted by a beautiful family that will love him for life."
From the look of things, I think it's safe to say that Vicente has found himself a wonderful, loving home. Sometimes it just takes a bit longer for the right family to come along. But, thankfully for this adorable pup, they finally did.
