Adorable Cat Fits In Purrfectly With His Three Dog 'Brothers'

I think it's fair to say that cats and dogs aren't exactly the best of friends. In fact, I'd go so far as to call them straight-up rivals.

I speak from experience here. My own four-legged fur babies have never seen eye to eye, especially when my dog makes the mistake of trying to play with my cat who has no interest partaking in such utter foolishness.

But just because we've known most cats and dogs to be mortal enemies doesn't mean there aren't any exceptions out there.

Meet Kiki.

At first glance, I'm sure you're thinking exactly what anyone else would about this American Shorthair: Okay, so he's a cat. And technically speaking, you would be right.

But as far as Kiki is concerned, he is no different than his three "brothers", who all happen to be dogs.

A couple from Japan had always had their three beloved Shibas, but the wife soon realized she wanted to add one more member to their little family — a cat.

"The reason why I wanted to expand our family with a cat rather than a dog was quite simple: I've had a cat in the past," the unnamed woman told Bored Panda.

While her husband was reluctant to bring a cat into their home, she kept pushing and eventually she was able to find one they both liked. Enter: Kiki.

Upon bringing the new kitty home to their house of dogs in January 2020, the couple weren't sure what to expect.

But to their surprise, Kiki fit in with his canine brothers almost instantly. Fast-forward several months, and this oddball pack does absolutely everything together.

They nap together, play together, and even eat together. By all accounts, they're thick as thieves.

No more was this proven than when the couple brought little Kiki along to a Shiba Inu party earlier this year.

"Kiki was getting along with all the dogs just fine, but one of them suddenly started barking at him," the woman recalled. "Immediately, one of our Shibas, Saki, barked back, protecting Kiki. At that point, I understood they've become true companions."

Being around his dog brothers has certainly had its effect on this little kitty, too.

According to Kiki's mom, he's actually started acting more and more dog-like, adopting some of the behaviors of his canine pals.

"I often hear that it's the dogs who get used to their owner's sleeping schedule, and cats are the jerks who get up early and wake you up at 4 AM or something like that," she told BP, "but Kiki also sleeps together with the rest of us until morning."

Suffice it to say, Kiki has definitely found his most *purrfect* pack.
