'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' Returns To TV After Scandalous Summer: 'Today We're Starting A New Chapter'

We've all had a pretty blegh summer, wouldn't ya say? From trying to hide my COVID-19 weight gain in strategic swimsuit coverups to watching Carole Baskin on Dancing with the Stars, it's all been relatively uneventful.

Unless, of course, you're a staff member on The Ellen DeGeneres Show! Those guys have been having the wildest summer EVER!

It's no secret *The Ellen Show* was a hot topic all summer long!

Over the summer, a series of articles were written by Buzzfeed News, alleging a "toxic" work environment that employees were forced to deal with while working for Ellen and her team of executive producers.

Fans truly didn't know if their favorite daytime talkshow would be returning this September.

However, the rumors were cleared up earlier this summer and confirmed that the Emmy award winning show would be back for it's 18th season.

Now, Ellen is addressing the drama on camera in an effort to kick off the new season with a bang.

"This summer there were allegations of a toxic work environment at our show & there was an investigation. I learned that things happened here that never should have happened," Ellen began in front of her virtual audience.

"We have had a lot of conversations over the last few weeks about the show, the workplace and what we want for the future. We have made the necessary changes and today we are starting a new chapter."

"Being known as the 'be kind' lady is a tricky position to be in," she continued.

This is seemingly in reference to the dozens of accusations about Ellen's unsavoury behavior that went viral earlier this year.

"So let me give you some advice out there if anybody's thinking of changing their title or giving yourself a nickname, do not go with the 'be kind' lady. Don't do it. The truth is I am that person that you see on TV."
