5. She found it "unsettling" to see herself as an elderly woman in *This Is Us*.

"I think they were so disturbed, they were sad to see Rebecca in that state. I guess because when you look in the mirror and you're aged 50 years, there's nothing recognizable, there's nothing tangible to hold on to and go, 'Oh, I see my mom or my grandma.'"

"Besides This Is Us, the favorite thing I've ever done. I was 16. I didn't know what I was doing and sweet Shane [West] was on this big TV show and had done a bunch of movies and was a bit older than me in that sense," she told Popsugar.

"So he really showed me the ropes. I didn't know how to hit my mark. I just was so green; I didn't know anything. So he was wonderful. I had never had that real experience of the Summer camp of [making] a movie," she added.

"It was just like the capsule of that moment in time was so special. I was so young and vulnerable, and I didn't know anything."

9. She admitted that music is what led her to become an actress.

In an interview with Popsugar, Mandy explained that music was her first love and it was the first opportunity she had to get her foot in the door of show business.

It has been more than 10 years since the last time Mandy Moore released music.

"Considering the fact that we're going on the road and I want to honor that part of my life and my career — and perhaps people and their nostalgic connection to that time in music, as well — I've been revisiting some of [my old music]."

"I mean, I know that people are coming on the road and want to hear 'Candy,' so that's a no-brainer to me. But listening back to that era of music, there's definitely some songs that I'm like 'Okay, this wasn't so bad. I'm excited to figure out a new arrangement of this song.'"

11. She used to be married to musician Ryan Adams.

Despite initially denying being in a relationship in 2007, the pair quietly tied the knot in 2008.

Unfortunately, their marriage did not go the distance and it did not end amicably.

12. She accused her ex-husband, Ryan Adams, of psychological abuse.

“Music was a point of control for him. He would always tell me, ‘You’re not a real musician because you don’t play an instrument,'" she wrote in a New York Times exposé in February 2019.

"His controlling behavior essentially did block my ability to make new connections in the industry during a very pivotal and potentially lucrative time — my entire mid-to-late 20s."

“He’s taken so much for so long from so many people. I can promise you he gets satisfaction being talked about in any capacity. I just know that about him. I haven’t spoken to him in, I don’t know, two years or something, but just knowing him as well as I know him, he really gets off on being talked about."

13. She was once plagued with self-doubt.

"Mother-daughter dynamics are always complicated no matter how you slice it, and my mom and I are no exception," she told Parade.

"Parts of Kate’s and Rebecca’s relationship cut close to the bone for me—how Kate treats her mom, the general annoyance."

"I think, Oof, I don’t want to be like that! I’ll read a script and feel this need to call or text my mom out of the blue to tell her I love her and appreciate her!"

17. She actually appreciates everything that 2020 has taught her.

"I’m hopeful! I feel like a lot of people look at 2020 and are ready to skip on over to 2021, and I totally understand that," she said to Parade.

"But I think this period of recalibration was long needed and maybe couldn’t have happened unless we found ourselves in the midst of a global pandemic and fight for racial justice and all these other pieces of the puzzle that are starting to coalesce."

"There’s been this awakening in so many senses. I don’t see things returning to the status quo, and that’s good. We need change."
