Mariah Carey Shares Clip From Her Unreleased Alternative Rock Album On Twitter

I love finding out that celebrities have a secret hobby or passion that we never knew about before. Whether it's Vin Diesel releasing music out of nowhere, Lorde revealing her secret Instagram account dedicated to reviewing onion rings, or even someone like Mariah Carey evidently dabbling in some unexpected music genres — it's always a blast to find out new things.

Mariah Carey is one of the most famous singers of our time.

Mariah is most well known for her dominance over the pop and R&B world (and obviously for her absolutely incredible vocal range), with a few dalliances into Christmas music to top it all off.

It turns out Mariah is more of a modern renaissance woman than we might've thought, as it turns out she has also dabbled in alternative rock.

"I did an alternative album while I was making *Daydream*," Mariah revealed on Twitter.

Daydream was Mariah's fifth studio album that was recorded between November 1994 and August 1995. This was likely a stressful time for Mariah, with a lot of pressure on her to succeed after her wildly popular Merry Christmas album in 1994 (yes, it is the one with "All I Want For Christmas Is You").

Mariah said that she worked on the album between recording *Daydream.*

"I wanted to break free, let loose and express my misery-but I also wanted to laugh. I totally looked forward to doing my alter-ego band sessions after Daydream each night," she wrote in her new memoir, and on Twitter she shared a clip of one of the songs off the album, which was called Someone's Ugly Daughter under the name Chick.

Mariah is not the lead vocalist on the track, but she is layered in there.

Mariah has also tweeted that there does exist a version of the album with her vocals on the lead, and that she intends to find it.

What do you think of Mariah's take on this new genre? I think she could carry it off! Let us know what you think in the comments below!
