10+ Facts About Lily Collins Fans Didn't Know

Daughter of music legend, and To The Bone, Love, Rosie, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil And Vile, and The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones star, Lily Collins, has slowly become a bigger and bigger name in Hollywood — entirely in her own respect instead of in her father's shadow. But there is still so much about her that fans don't know yet!

1. She prefers Instagram over Twitter.

Lily is not a fan of Twitter. In fact, she deleted her account entirely to focus her energy on Instagram instead.

In a Q&A with Glamour, she revealed that Twitter was simply not her cup of tea.

2. She was born in the U.K.

Despite her father, Phil Collins, having a British accent, being born in the U.K. herself, and rocking a pretty believable British accent in several films, Lily grew up in Los Angeles where she adopted an American accent.

3. She used to struggle with her body image and her weight.

In an interview with USA Today, she admitted that she felt compelled to be a part of the film To The Bone — a film about a woman who suffers from a severe eating disorder because she felt personally connected to the story.

4. Her backup career is journalism.

In an interview with Glamour, when asked what career path she might have chosen instead of show business, she revealed that she has always been interested in journalism.

Not a bad choice, if I do say so myself!

5. She used to dabble in journalism before becoming an actress.

"I started doing journalism for Nickelodeon, Extra, E, various networks. It was fun and interesting because I was interviewing the very actors I wanted to work with," she revealed to Momtastic.

"I wanted to get more practice, whether it was journalism, on-air time, producing, learning about editing, anything."

6. She loves to bake.

"I love baking... it's really my time in the kitchen to explore and experiment and zone out," she told Byrdie.

"I love the process: You have to make the dough, the dough chills, then you have time in between finishing the dough and putting them in the oven to clean up and zone out. Then you put them in the oven and you wait for them to bake; you watch them rise, and it smells so good."

7. She is very close with her mom.

"I'm super, super close with my mom. She's first and foremost the closest person to me that inspires me," she told Byrdie.

"And my girlfriends who I've known since high school and college, who've known me since the beginning."

"They're really inspiring, powerful women that I'm friends with for a reason. They uplift me, they make me feel great, they call me out on my shit when I need to be called out on it—in the most loving way possible."

"And they hold me accountable, which, to me, is what you need from a friend," she added.

8. She wrote a book.

"Writing my book was therapy because writing [my experience] down made it so much more real to me. Sometimes if I write down what I'm feeling, step away from it for a little bit, and read it back, it's easier to work through," she told Byrdie.

"There were lots of chapters that I wrote, then stepped away from and re-read, and I thought 'Oh, okay, I guess I'm really going there,' or, 'I didn't think I was going to talk about that,' or 'Wow, that really happened.'"

"It's because once it's written down you can step away from it and come back as a viewer or a reader, and you're not defined by what you've written. It's a part of you, but it's just words that are stemming from experiences but they're not defining who you are."

9. She has been ghosted by men she has dated.

"There are times when I've [been on dates and] thought we had a great time and then I've never heard from the guy again," she told Glamour.

"Sometimes that happens after one date, a couple of dates or one month. I would prefer people to be honest with me, as I live like that. I don't think it will be something I can ever figure out."

10. Audrey Hepburn, Natalie Portman, and her mom are her style idols.

When asked by Glamour who her top go-to style icons are, without skipping a beat she listed Audrey Hepburn for classic looks, Natalie Portman for effortless looks, and her mom for eccentric looks.

11. She thinks the greatest love stories of all time are 'Titanic' and 'Love Actually'.

Titanic seems like a given, but Lily explained to LiveSigning that Love Actually is her second choice because, "There are like, six love stories in one."

Can't argue with that! Two great choices.

12. If she could date any fictional character, it would be Harry Potter.

Like many young girls, Harry Potter was one of Lily Collins' first crushes. I mean, it's understandable. He's a literal wizard.

So, in a rapid-fire Q&A with _ LiveSigning_, when asked what fictional character she would date if she could, she chose Harry!

13. She considers herself to be "unfiltered."

"I’ve never had a problem saying awkward things or putting themselves in an awkward situation to spark conversations. At the same time, in this business you learn how to separate what you need to say from what you want to keep personal and so you create a personal boundary," she told Flare.
