Kelly Clarkson Opens Up About Her Kids Being In Therapy During Her Divorce: 'I Want To Do It Right'

Going through a divorce is never easy, especially if there are children involved. When you're a celebrity in the public eye, the pressure to do the right thing for your children is intense, which is why Kelly Clarkson has revealed she hasn't been afraid to get outside help where it's needed throughout her divorce.

Kelly Clarkson filed for divorce from her husband Brandon Blackstock in June.

“I am a very open person, but I’m not going to be able to be truly open about this in certain aspects because there’s kids involved,” Kelly told the LA Times about her divorce, referring to the two children she and Brandon had during their marriage as well as Brandon's two children from a previous relationship.

In a new interview, Kelly has opened up about the lengths she's going to to ensure her children are able to process this event.

“We have a lot of help as far as therapists or child psychologists because we want to do it right," Kelly said in an interview with Extra. ”I definitely want to do it right. Everyone’s sad and it’s okay to be sad.”

Kelly explained that she's aware what happens to her relationship is not just effecting her.

“It’s just one day when you’re like, ‘Wow, this has forever changed and it’s not just my heart has changed, there’s other little hearts, too,” Kelly said of the realization that she needs to look out for how her kids are handling the divorce.

Kelly added it was tough to navigate a public breakup while “at the same time protecting these little kids you adore.”

We love that Kelly is making sure that her kids are taken care of during this difficult time in her life, and we love to see more celebrities normalizing the idea of involving outside help from therapists and psychologists when times get tough!
