10+ Facts About John Cena Fans Didn't Know

John Cena is a man who's never satisfied. After becoming the greatest wrestler to ever step inside the squared-circle, John set out to prove that there was more to him than muscles and a clever catchphrase.

Over the past decade, John has become one of the most sought-after and impressive action stars working in Hollywood. Get to know him better with these 10+ facts about John Cena that fans didn't know.

1. John's first movie role was in the WWE film *The Marine*.

John has followed a path, not at all dissimilar from Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson.

While it's true that The Marine may not go down in history as the greatest film ever made, it gave John an opportunity to show that he was more than just a wrestler.

2. He's the grandson of Tony Lupien.

Tony Lupien was a professional baseball player in the 1940s. Over the course of his 6-year career, Tony was a .268 hitter with an OBP (On Base Percentage) of .337.

Which is impressive. He's no Pete Rose but it's impressive nonetheless.

3. John has one of the strangest social media profiles you'll ever see.

The tag line on John's account reads "Welcome to my Instagram. These images will be posted without explanation, for your interpretation. Enjoy."

Universities could teach entire psych courses based on what John posts. One thing you will not find anywhere is a selfie.

4. He's a real-life muse.

Sho Madjozi is a South African based hip hop artist with a passion for two things: making music and John Cena!

During an appearance on A Colors Show, Sho dropped the previously unreleased single for the first time. Shortly thereafter, the John Cena Dance Challenge was born!

Later on, while she was performing on *The Kelly Clarkson Show*, John gave Sho the surprise of her life!

Her reaction is positively priceless! I honestly can't tell if Sho is happy to meet John or utterly terrified.

Maybe it's a little bit of both?

5. Ironically, his greatest battle in the ring had nothing to do with wrestling.

Fair warning, this is somewhat painful to watch. In fact, it borders on cringeworthy.

For reasons unbeknownst to anyone, John and Kurt Angle met in the center of the ring. Not to wrestle, but to battle-rap one another. No, I am not joking.

6. John Cena is considered to be the greatest professional wrestler of all time.

John Cena was a 16-time WWE World Champion.

To say that John's time at the top was unprecedented doesn't even begin to encapsulate his legacy. He's a living legend.

7. He isn't ruling out a possible return to the WWE.

John's Pro-Wrestling contract has officially expired. However, every single major household wrestling name, from Hogan to The Rock, has made at least one triumphant return to the squared circle.

John's ambiguous tweet leads me to believe that we'll see him again.

8. John is obsessed with BTS.

John is a hip-hop head at heart. What first drew him to BTS is their penchant for beat production and syncopation. He has said that he's not only on board with the band but the message behind their music as well.

9. He had an incredibly embarrassing moment inside the wrestling ring.

John was slated to wrestle Scott Steiner. He had been battling food poisoning all day and was still incredibly ill.

After taking a DDT, John was forced to exit the ring, crawl under the mat, and began throwing up. But it didn't end there.

John was sick with such force that it caused him to, hmm...how shall I put this lightly? Have another 'accident'.

That's right — John pooped his pants. I can't even begin to imagine the fear and terror that must have been flowing through his body at that moment.

Were I in the same place, I would have stayed under the ring until everyone went home.

10. He's a published author.

Did you know that John Cena has authored an entire series of children's books?! Most recently, John wrote a book called "Elbow Grease: Fast Friends."

Who knows, maybe we'll one day get to see John direct Elbow Grease: The Movie.

11. John was nervous joining the cast of *The Fast And The Furious*.

John was fully aware of the FF legacy before signing on. He likened his first day on set to the first time he ever walked into the locker room in the WWE.

It was intimidating at first, but in no time John was welcomed into the family with open arms.

12. Recently, it was announced that John will be playing Peacemaker in James Gunn's reboot of *The Suicide Squad*.

HBO

John took part in a cast panel for DC FanDome.

He along with the rest of the Squad was introduced to the world and took time to answer questions and discuss the upcoming film.

Shortly thereafter, DC announced that John would be starring in a *Peacemaker* spinoff series for HBO Max!

Is it really a spin-off if The Suicide Squad hasn't even come out yet? DC is doing the same thing with its new Gotham PD series, which is supposedly a spin-off of Matt Reeves The Batman.

Regardless, I can't wait for this one!
