There's nothing that stings more than a bad ending to an otherwise fantastic TV show, as fans of Game Of Thrones, Scrubs, or How I Met Your Mother might be quick to tell you. However, most shows with disappointing endings don't get a chance to redo it all, whereas it seems like the crime dram Dexter is going to be getting exactly that.
'Dexter' Showrunner Says The Reboot Is A 'Great Opportunity' To Write A New Ending
*Dexter* was an incredibly popular show that aired from 2006-2013.
The show followed Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan, who by day worked as a bloodstain pattern analyst for the Miami police and by night was a vigilante serial killer hunting down murderers of his own.
The show was loved by audiences and critics, except for one minor detail.
The series' ending was incredibly unpopular.
I won't go into spoilers, but the way the show ended was pretty unanimously panned by fans and critics alike.
That's why, when it was announced that the show was being brought back for a limited 10 episode series in 2021, some fans had mixed feelings, but showrunner Clyde Phillips wants to reassure fans that they're all aware of how people feel about the ending.
"It's a great opportunity to write a second finale for our show," Clyde revealed in a new interview.
"This is an opportunity to make it right, but that's not why we're doing it. We're doing this because there is such a hunger for Dexter," Clyde said in a new podcast episode.
Clyde reassured fans that they weren't going to erase the finale, however.
"We're not going to betray the audience and say, 'Whoops, that was all a dream.' What happened in the first eight years happened in the first eight years," Clyde said, also confirming that the show would be taking place roughly eight years after the finale.
