Admittedly, when I first stumbled upon the tweet that inspired this article, I was a bit miffed.
I mean, there's nothing wrong with appreciating a quality writing instrument. Even kids know the experience of picking up a random non-BiC and thinking, "Wow, this is a nice pen!"
Because for 99 out of 100 uses, anything is better than a cheap supply closet ballpoint.
So yeah, I was going to quibble with the original tweet, but then I remembered that I am a 35-year-old woman with a collection of vintage fountain pens and perhaps I'm not in the position to judge what's #relatable when it comes to age and writing implements.
Maybe. Probably.
Definitely.
Or at least, by a certain stage in life you've have enough of your "nice pens" stolen by friends and coworkers that you've become that crotchety old biddy whose pen cup holds the crap pens, while your good ones are locked in your desk drawer.
But you know what? That pen you borrowed to leave a note for the person who sits next to me is a nice pen, and it's mine, and if you walk away with it, I will hunt you down.
If that makes me old, I'm going to just own it.
