10+ Celebrity Feuds That Hurt Television Shows

Don't believe everything you see on TV.

The couples you 'ship may fake their onscreen chemistry and the friendships you love may end as soon as the actors hear "cut!"

Yep, Hollywood can be a fickle place — one that has consequences for those who can't play nice.

Here are 10+ celebrity feuds that hurt television shows.

1. Shannen Doherty and Alyssa Milano, *Charmed*

WB

Although they played sisters on the WB show, these actresses had a lot of conflict behind-the-scenes.

Things got so bad that it was even reportedly why Doherty left the show after Season Three.

Even so, Alyssa wouldn't confirm whether this was true while on *Watch What Happens Live*.

"I don't know if she got fired, we never really found out what happened," she said.

"I can tell you that we were on the air with her for three years and there were definitely some rough days."

2. Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion, *Castle*

Given their off-screen feud, it's must have made it awkward to fake chemistry as a married couple onscreen.

"Stana and Nathan completely despise each other," an insider told Us Weekly, back when the show was still on.

"They will not speak when they are off set, and this has been going on for seasons now."

Everything came to a head in the end when Stana announced that she was leaving the show after Season Eight.

From there, ABC abruptly canceled the series.

3. Charlie Sheen and Chuck Lorre, *Two-and-a-Half Men*

FOX

There was no love lost between the former star of the show and its creator.

In the midst of Sheen dealing with rehab visits and domestic disputes, he turned his attention to disparaging Lorre in the media.

In February of 2011, Charlie threatened Chuck and called him a whole slew of names, including a "maggot" and a "loser" in interviews.

This soon led to Charlie's dismissal from the show and Ashton Kutcher stepping up as a new lead.

4. Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie, *The Simple Life*

FOX

Things went from "That's hot" to ice-cold between these two former besties after it was reported that Nicole showed Paris's sex tape at a party.

After the incident, the two stars filmed The Simple Life separately.

5. Isaiah Washington and T.R. Knight, *Grey's Anatomy*

ABC

Isaiah was on thin ice when he got into a fight with Knight, who's gay, and let out an anti-gay slur.

When he said the slur again backstage at the 2007 Golden Globes Awards, he was fired.

6. Betty White and Bea Arthur, *Golden Girls*

NBC

While it's hard to imagine a soul on this earth who doesn't like Betty White, that was the case with Bea Arthur.

"She was not that fond of me," White said in 2011 talk, according to the Village Voice. "She found me a pain in the neck sometimes."

"It was my positive attitude — and that made Bea mad sometimes. Sometimes if I was happy, she'd be furious!"

Some even speculated that she was jealous of Betty's Emmys win.

By the final season, Arthur "made it very clear that she was done," wrote Jim Colucci, author of Golden Girls Forever: An Unauthorized Biography.

7. Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall, *Sex and the City*

HBO

This was the kind of feud that not even a cosmo could fix.

“We’ve never been friends,” Cattrall said during an appearance on ITV‘s Piers Morgan’s Life Stories.

"We’ve been colleagues and in some way, it’s a very healthy place to be.”

Their rumored drama goes way back to the original series when Cattrall negotiated for a higher salary.

Any beef between them started up again after reports stated that Cattrall put the ax on the third Sex and the City movie for demanding too much.

8. Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag, *The Hills*

MTV

When fans watched the first few episodes of The Hills, they were enamored by Lauren and Heidi's adorable friendship.

But it all went up in flames when Heidi met Spencer, ending her friendship (and screentime) with Lauren.

9. Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, *American Idol*

There was only room for one Queen on the hit reality TV show.

"Ugh. It was the most abusive experience," Mariah once said about her experience being a judge on the show.

This stemmed from many reports of the two artists fighting.

There was even footage of Minaj yelling at Mariah in the media.

Soon, neither of them could take it, and they both exited the show after one season. Later, Mariah said that it was like "working in hell with Satan."

10. Will Smith and Janet Hubert, *The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air*

NBC

Janet Hubert, the actress who played Aunt Viv in the first three series of the hit show, doesn't mince words when it comes to her distaste for Smith.

After she was replaced in 1993 due to conflict with Smith over money, she said that Will "destroyed" her career with 20 years of lies.

Meanwhile, Smith said that Hubert considered him the "antichrist" and "a snotty-nosed punk."

11. Jason Alexander and Heidi Swedberg, *Seinfeld*

NBC

Remember that episode where Heidi's character, Susan, dies from licking envelopes?

Well, that was all Jason's doing, as he couldn't get along with Heidi and asked that she be written off the show.

12. William Shatner and George Takei, *Star Trek*

They have been fighting since their days together on Star Trek. Takei has repeatedly said that Shatner would ignore him on set, and Shatner in turn said that he hadn't been invited to Takei's wedding.

13. Katherine Heigl and Shonda Rhimes, *Grey's Anatomy*

It's really no secret that these two are not on good terms.

Heigl was so unimpressed with the treatment of her character on the show that she even withdrew her name from Emmy consideration!

14. Joan Rivers and Johnny Carson, *The Tonight Show*

In 1983, Rivers was offered a late night all show, which meant she would be leaving Johnny Carson's side on The Tonight Show. This, apparently, made him furious.

"The first person I called was Johnny, and he hung up on me -- and never, ever spoke to me again. And then denied that I called him. I couldn’t figure it out. I would see him in a restaurant and go over and say hello. He wouldn’t talk to me," she told The Hollywood Reporter.

"I kept saying, 'I don’t understand, why is he mad?' He was not angry at anybody else. I think he really felt because I was a woman that I just was his. That I wouldn’t leave him. I know this sounds very warped. But I don’t understand otherwise what was going on."

"For years, I thought that maybe he liked me better than the others. But I think it was a question of, 'I found you, and you’re my property.' He didn’t like that as a woman, I went up against him."

15. Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty, *90210*

ABC

While these two might be okay now, during their young days on 90210 they regularly disagreed with one another.

In fact, one time they almost got involved in a physical fight!

16. Alyson Hannigan and Sarah Michelle Gellar, *Buffy the Vampire Slayer*

While the stars have never blown up the internet with their feud, it has been alluded to a fair amount of times that it did exist.

It might have had to do with the fact that the longer the series went on, the longer Gellar was annoyed with it.

17. America Ferrera and Lindsay Lohan, *Ugly Betty*

This feud got so bad that Lohan was actually cut from the show! She clashed repeatedly with Ferrera and had many arguments.

Page Six reported, “It was a mess. Lindsay would show up every day with an entourage of people. She smoked 24/7, and after she left, they had to repaint her dressing room it was such a mess.”

18. Chevy Chase and Dan Harmon, *Community*

Show creator Dan Harmon and actor Chevy Chase clashed often over the direction of the character Chase was playing, and the show in general.

In fact, Chase walked off set many times! Harmon ended up getting fired, and although he came back, Chase was already gone from the show by the time he did.

19. Teri Hatcher and Marcia Cross, *Desperate Housewives*

ABC

While we don't exactly have the inside look at this feud, we definitely know that it happened.

Hatcher and Cross hate each other so much that Cross refused to even stand next to Hatcher for a photoshoot!

20. Charlie Sheen and Selma Blair, *Anger Management*

Fox

Blair was actually dismissed by Sheen from this show!

She questioned his work and his ethics, and after a fight, he fired her through text message. Talk about a bad break up, am I right?

21. Chad Michael Murray and Sophia Bush, *One Tree Hill*

These two had to still work together on the show even after they broke up. And not only was Bush furious with Murray, but the producers didn't help either.

“They made practice of taking advantage of people’s personal lives and not just for me and for my ex — for other actors on the show who would share, like as you do when you get close to people, deeply personal things that were happening in their lives and they would wind up in storylines. It wasn’t okay,” she said on Dax Shepard's podcast Armchair Expert.

"It was opportunistic and ugly and when you run a show, you’re like a parent. You’re supposed to protect your flock and it was the opposite of that. And I imagine that was hard for him as well. It was a very ugly situation on their part."

"I think they kind of lived for the drama.”
