It's 2020, the world is a dumpster fire, and the US presidential election is coming up fast. Even if you're not American, it's like the whole world is holding its collective breath to see what the results will be, since in a global economy, it affects us all.

Woman's Obituary Asks That In Lieu Of Flowers, People 'Do Not Vote For Trump'

However, when so much seems to be at stake, can you really blame people for constantly bringing it up?
It permeates every facet of our lives right now.
Which probably explains why the simple obituary of a woman in Minnesota went viral.
Usually obits only make waves in the community that lost a loved one, but occasionally one is special enough to be shared online, and even more rarely, it goes viral worldwide.
Georgia May (Platten Wille) Adkins was born in 1927 and passed away on September 28, 2020.
She was 93 years old and left behind a son, three daughters, two stepdaughters, and 42 grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren.
Like most obits, hers is short and sweet. Though as a sign of the times, it indicates how COVID-19 has affected family funerals in 2020.

But Georgia also had a very specific dying wish that she wanted included in her obituary, which was published three weeks before Election Day.
Flowers are a common thing to send to a grieving family.
So common that many obits will specifically request a donation to a good cause instead, like planting trees or a specific charity. Not Georgia, though.
Instead, her obit clearly states:
"In lieu of flowers, Georgia preferred that you do not vote for Trump."
Simple, succinct, and speaking so clearly about the current state of the United States and the world in general.

So of course, once locals spotted it in the Pioneer Press, it was shared online and quickly spread from there.
Whatever name it said, it would have made waves, since it's such an epic mic drop.
In a comment on one of the viral Facebook posts, Georgia's granddaughter, Amber Westman, said:
"Thanks everyone. Georgia was my grandma. She was fierce everyday and remains so through her legacy! I appreciate all the lovely things being said about her and will make sure to share this with the whole family!"
"Fierce" is clearly an understatement!
