Shonda Rhimes is truly a queen in all ways, shapes, and forms. Rhimes is the showrunner—creator, head writer, and executive producer—of Grey's Anatomy, its spin-off series Private Practice, and Scandal. I KNOW, RIGHT?! Her brain? Outstanding!
Now, the award-winning showrunner is speaking out about leaving her partnership with ABC for Netflix after not receiving a free Disneyland pass.
ABC was home to all of Rhimes' genius shows for many years before the showrunner made the shift over to Netflix.
But why, right? Why would someone make the switch over to Netflix after working on cable TV for so long?!
"I felt like I was dying," Rhimes told the publication.
"Like I'd been pushing the same ball up the same hill in the exact same way for a really long time."
One day, Rhimes needed one for her sister, as she would be accompanying her older daughter to the park.
After the company hesitantly agreed, only one pass worked when they got to Disney.
When Rhimes made a call to an executive at ABC to try and sort out their deal, he allegedly replied, "Don't you have enough?"
In August of 2017, it was officially announced that Rhimes would be leaving ABC after 15 years for a nine-figure deal with the popular streaming service.
