Nicole Kidman Refuses To Let Her 12-Year-Old Daughter Join Instagram

Nicole Kidman is known for being gorgeous and incredibly talented, but apparently, the 53-year-old is not super tech-savvy!

There's no denying that social media is a part of most people's everyday lives, but when it comes to her children, Nicole is refusing to let them participate in it — yet.

While chatting on British talk show Loose Women, Nicole got candid about restricting her kids from Instagram.

If you follow Nicole Kidman on Instagram, you'd never think she didn't consider herself tech-savvy. HAVE YOU SEEN HER SELFIES?!

She almost single handedly broke the internet when she debuted her throwback red curly hair on Instagram a few weeks ago!

However, the 53-year-old mom of four revealed she and hubby Keith Urban are taking extra precautions when it comes to her youngest children and their desire to join social media.

Of course, Nicole also has two older children — Connor and Bella Cruise — from her previous marriage to Tom Cruise.

The actress revealed her number one priority as a parent is ensuring her daughters have a good sense of self-worth.

"I think it’s keeping their confidence and their self-esteem intact," she explained on Loose Women, as per The Daily Mail.

She continued: "And still guiding them, not being overbearing, trying not to ‘helicopter parent’. Allowing them to make mistakes and fall down and not trying to sort of absorb that pain."

"There are so many things. But it’s a joy, it’s a joy having these beautiful little women that are growing up and I’m discovering them day by day. I love it."

Of course, like many modern-day parents, Nicole is being faced with the challenge of her young children wanting to use social media.

The topic itself can be quite controversial, with many parents arguing it isn't safe to let kids on social media without supervision.

Nicole explained that her 12-year-old daughter, Sunday, is eager to join Instagram, but the Oscar-winning actress isn't having it.

"I’m not very techy myself. It’s very hard for me to monitor it and stay on it,” she said, according to The Daily Mail.

"I won’t let them be on Instagram… I have a 12-year-old right now who is chomping at the bit and wants to get into all of that."

"It’s just that constant push, pull. I’d say a lot of parents would say the same thing, amirite?" she laughed.

Turns out, Nicole was right!

Many parents took to social media to echo the actress's sentiments.

"Yes Nicole, you are very right...children grow up way too fast and we need them to stay children...There are so many bad people on social media...smart choice !!!" commented one fan.

User @MrsRhiannaRowe explained her 12-year-old son has a phone, but isn't allowed to use social media apps: "My son is 12 and also not allowed social media. He’s only recently had a phone & allowed what’s app to talk to his friends."

"I don’t like him having that but all his friends do [so] I didn’t want him left out," she concluded.

Fans of Nicole would know this isn't the first time the actress has opened up about her protective parenting style.

While chatting with Vanity Fair last year, Nicole revealed that in addition to no social media, her youngest daughters don't even have cell phones.

"I try to keep some sort of boundaries," she explained at the time.

Do you agree with Nicole's parenting style? Do you think 12 years old is too young for Instagram?
