When the polls began to close on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, we all knew that it would take a while before enough votes would be counted to declare a clear victor in this historic election.
It took until today, Saturday, November 7, for one of the final battleground states to come to a clear winner and allow multiple news outlets to officially call a projected winner of the job of president of the United States for the upcoming four years.
The news comes as Pennsylvania is the first of the five (or six, depending on the outlet) battleground states the world has been watching finally reached enough tallied votes to make the outcome clear.
Still remaining to be called are: Nevada, Georgia, Alaska, North Carolina, and in some estimates, Arizona.
There are not enough remaining ballots to be counted for the Trump campaign to likely catch up, which is what has prompted outlets to make their projection of the winners.
In a statement his campaign said:
"Beginning Monday, our campaign will start prosecuting our case in court to ensure election laws are fully upheld and the rightful winner is seated."
He once again promised to be the president for all the American people and not simply those who voted for him.
She also makes a point of saying that this isn't the end of the fight, but the beginning of a long process and a lot of hard work.
Though there is still so much work to come, it's clear that after so many days of waiting, people were ready to let off steam.
It is important to note that we are still in the midst of a pandemic. Thankfully, most people appear to be wearing their masks, which will do a lot to help curb any potential spread during these celebrations.
Biden is expected to address the nation at 8 PM EST.
