Video Shows Moment Kamala Harris Called President-Elect Joe Biden: 'We Did It'

Kamala Harris has shared a video of the first moment she spoke to President-Elect Joe Biden to celebrate his electoral victory, and it's quickly gone viral on Twitter.

Less than an hour after multiple news outlets projected Biden as the winner of the 2020 presidential election, Harris took to her social media to share an emotional clip with her 9.1 million followers depicting a phone call she made to Biden as the pair processed the news that they're heading to the White House together.

Before sharing the video, Harris tweeted her response to learning she's the first vice president-elect.

As she wrote,

"This election is about so much more than @JoeBiden or me. It's about the soul of America and our willingness to fight for it. We have a lot of work ahead of us. Let's get started."

Shortly after that, Harris took to Twitter again, this time sharing the now-viral clip of her call with Biden.

In the video, a visibly overwhelmed Harris dials up the former vice president to congratulate him on their historic win.

"We did it," she says. "We did it, Joe. You're going to be the next President of the United States."

Harris appears in the video wearing sunglasses, a sweatshirt, and leggings, as she was reportedly on a walk with her husband Doug Emhoff when the news broke that Biden had secured a lead of more than 30,000 votes in Pennsylvania.

Harris' video has quickly gone viral on Twitter, racking up over 21.1 million views and more than 450,000 retweets at the time of this writing.

Thanks to the results of this election, the junior senator of California-turned next vice president has just made history four times over.

Not only is she the first woman to ever achieve the office in America, but Harris is also the first Black person, the first Indian-American, and the first Asian-American to do so as well.

The VP-elect has since followed-up her viral video with a photo of herself and Biden on the campaign trail.

She captioned the post, "@JoeBiden and I are ready to get to work on behalf of the American people."
