Family With 14 Boys Finally Welcomes A Baby Girl

When having kids, some couples want to have a mix of both sons and daughters. Since there's almost no way to guarantee a baby's sex, it can take a couple of tries to have a daughter or a son. For some people, like the Schwandt family, it takes more than a couple of tries.

We've all heard stories of families who keep on trying.

Some families have five, six, or even seven kids before they finally get the son or daughter they had dreamed of. But, sometimes, families try even longer.

Kateri and Jay Schwandt had 14 boys before they finally welcomed their first daughter into the world.

If you can even believe that a family is that big, this family of all boys has finally has gotten their wish and had a daughter of their own. After 14 boys, this little girl is going to have a lot of protectors.

The family, who lives in Lakeview, Michigan, are "overjoyed" at the newest addition in their life.

Although they have a huge family, their newborn baby girl is a surprise they never expected.

Kateri and Jay met when they were 15-years-old.

The two met in high school and both attended Ferris State University. By the time they graduated, they already had three sons.

The family, who even have their own TV show, have boys that range in age.

Their oldest son, Tyler, is 28-years-old and recently got engaged and moved out. However, there are still 13 other boys who live at home with mom and dad.

Tyler told The Detroit Free Press that his brothers will have some adjusting to do.

"My parents were finally blessed with the little girl they never thought they'd end up having. It's been about 12 hours since my dad told us, and I still haven't quite wrapped my mind around it. I don't even know if my mom owns any pink clothing — or anything," he said.

Their newest addition, Maggie Jayne, will have a lot of sharing to do with her brothers.

The family's tree includes Tyler, Zach, Drew, Brandon, Tommy, Vinny, Calvin, Gabe, Wesley, Charlie, Luke, Tucker, Francisco, and Finley. That's a lot of testosterone in one home!

Tyler also joked that there are some things they'll never get used to.

Being in a house full of boys means tons of wrestling and rough-housing. And, let's not forget, boys always forget to put the seat down!

The entire family is very excited over their new sister and daughter.

"We are overjoyed and beyond excited to add Maggie Jayne to our family This year has been memorable in so many ways, for so many reasons, but Maggie is the greatest gift we could ever imagine," Jay told The Detroit Free Press.

Congratulations to all!
