10+ TV Shows With The Worst Series Endings Ever

Wrapping things up is always the hardest part of storytelling. Human beings tend to have a hard time grasping the concept of totality, especially when it comes to our favorite TV shows.

Years of work can all come crashing down if a finale isn't executed with precision. Don't believe me? Then take a look at these 10+ TV shows with the worst series endings ever.

*How I Met Your Mother*.

9 seasons of build-up all leads to a convoluted explanation of how Ted has been in love with Robin this entire time? Duh!

We literally knew that five minutes into the very first episode. This finale made the entire series seem pointless and drawn out.

*True Blood*.

HBO

Not only do the writers abandon the principal love interest of the entire show, but to cap it all off they make Sookie be the one who 'stakes' Bill?

And who is the father to her baby-to-be?

*Gossip Girl*.

CW

In my opinion, the writers of Gossip Girl were just looking for a way out. Pinning it on Dan seems about as lazy a conclusion as they could have possibly come up with.

Literally, anyone else would have been better.

*Seinfeld*.

So it just ends with the entire cast in prison? That's how Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld chose to end things after their historic run at the top?

We need closure, guys! Was that seriously the best you could do?

*Game Of Thrones*.

HBO

I guess disappointment was always to be expected when it came to Game of Thrones.

It's almost as if Benioff and Weiss were deliberately trying to infuriate their loyal audience as much as humanly possible with this one.

*The Sopranos*.

It's the not knowing that drives audiences insane. We crave closure because, in some small way, we live vicariously through these characters.

Therefore, it's not hard to understand why a simple fade-to-black didn't cut it for the majority of Sopranos fans.

*Dexter*.

It had been a slow downhill slide for Dexter for the past few seasons, but the finale was the ultimate middle finger to the fans.

You expect us to believe that Dexter abandons everything he knows to be true and just become a lumberjack somewhere in the northern woods?

*Lost*.

I can almost picture a room filled to the brim with anxious writers, all having no idea how to possibly bring things to a point in Lost.

Then, all of a sudden from the shadows, someone stands up and proclaims "They were dead the entire time!"

*Entourage*.

HBO

Entourage glorifies Peter-Pan syndrome. In the finale, we see the ultimate betrayal of Vince's character without batting an eye.

The only thing more disappointing than the finale of Entourage was the poor excuse for a movie that preceded it.

*Roseanne*.

So Dan didn't recover from his heart attack? That's how you're really choosing to go out?

I don't know about you, but killing one of the most adored TV dads of the '90s left a bad taste in my mouth.

*Scrubs*.

ABC

They should have ended Scrubs after season 8. Turning Sacred Heart into a teaching hospital? What a slap in the face.

Not only did it introduce a completely new cast of characters, but it also relegated the old fan favorites to mere cameos.

*The Originals*.

I'm not a huge fan of vampire fiction but even I can admit that they did my man Klaus dirty with this one.

And as noble as Elijah's sacrifice may have been, it wasn't enough to detract from the obvious lack of imagination at play.

*Boardwalk Empire*.

HBO

The entire last season of Boardwalk Empire is a wash as far as I'm concerned. Nucky's death feels so forced and random that it almost becomes laughable.

I mean, James' son Tommy avenging the death of his father whom he'd never met? How cliche is that?

*Two And A Half Men*.

CBS

I'm well aware that things between Chuck Lorre and Charlie Sheen became heated — to say the least.

But the meta-conclusion of Chuck Lorre dropping a piano of Charlie's head just seemed overly vindictive and unnecessary.

*Friends*.

NBC

Ross is the worst. He's a selfish boyfriend and a totally absent father. I can't believe that Rachel gave up on her dreams for this loser.

You don't need a crystal ball to see what their future holds: resentment and Ross' 4th divorce.
