Alicia Silverstone's Son Bear Cut His Hair After Being 'Made Fun Of'

Your kid's first big haircut is something that's bound to be emotional! I cut my hair into a bob when I was 21 years old and my mom still cried about it — it's only natural for parents to get emotional about their kids' hair!

Alicia Silverstone shared an emotional post about her son Bear's haircut months after he had been bullied for having incredibly long hair.

In September, Alicia shared that Bear, her 9-year-old son, had been made fun of for his long hair.

"One time my son was made fun of by other kids because of his hair on a bus ride to surf camp. After he had returned and told me, I thought he would want to cut it for a haircut appointment we had already scheduled the next day," she wrote.

Alicia said at that time his goal was to grow it down to his waist.

"When we showed up, he said 'please give me a trim so I can grow it to my waist.' That’s my boy! He knows who he is. He loves his hair and chooses to have it long," she wrote at the time.

"Mama and Papa aren’t going to stop him from being him."

"He’s beautiful and we love his hair! We would never impose any social ideas about what hair on a boy or girl should look like. "

"We should all try to embrace our children and who they choose to be without any judgement!"

"Plus there are so many very handsome men who have long hair Brad Pitt… Harry Styles…. Jason Momoa… even Jesus... all long hair! Just sayin..." Alicia's post ended.

In a new video, Alicia shared that Bear had changed his mind and gone for a short cut!

"Yes, It’s true. Bear cut his hair!! My baby’s growing up," she wrote.

"I miss his hair!!!!! Was it his decision? Yes. Did I cry inside as I watched him get it cut? Maybe… but did I try to stop him?" Alicia wrote alongside the video.

"Not for one second."

"The reason he chose to keep it for as long as he did was because he loved it so much!!" she shared.

"He just wanted to try something new," Alicia shared.

"Although I have a feeling he’ll find a way back to his long hair again in the future. No matter what though, I will always support my sweet, caring, and precious little boy in every decision he makes."

You can watch the video for yourself right here! We love to see parents supporting their kids, no matter what!

The haircut was pretty widely loved.

Actress Viola Davis commented that Bear looked "Handsome!" while other fans praised both the haircut and Alicia's parenting skills.

"Such a beautiful soul with long or short hair!" one comment read. "It's so awesome you let him be in control of his own hair like that!"
