Celebrities Who Dated Their Fans (And Some Actually Lasted)

Every one of us has fantasized about dating a celebrity at some point.

I, for instance, am currently married to Leonardo DiCaprio, Ryan Reynolds, and Henry Cavill.

But as lovely as these fantasies are, the odds of them happening are pretty slim.

BUT, not impossible, as we have this list of 10+ celebrities who actually dated their fans.

1. Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin

This is awkward. When Hailey was younger, she was a huge Jelena fan. As in, she 'shipped the relationship between Justin and Selena Gomez...

She was also a huge Belieber, as she has this video of them meeting him when she was younger.

2. Jessica Alba with Cash Warren

Cash won the lottery with this one. He was a fan for years when he got to meet the actress as a production assistant on Fantastic Four.

Shooting his shot paid off as the two are now married and have three kids.

3. Kim Kardashian and Kayne West

Celebs can be fans, too! Before the couple got together, Kayne was obsessed with the star at a distance.

"We've known Kanye since 2006 or 2007. And he's always been into [Kim] and loved her," sister Khloé revealed on The Talk.

This meant going through the difficult task of watching her get married and go through several relationships.

Since Kim would always say that she and Kayne are "just friends," it was Khloé who convinced Kim to give him a "shot."

Sadly, as of 2021, the pair are no longer together.

4. Matt Damon and Luciana Barroso

When you think of celebs marrying normal people, the actor definitely comes to mind.

While working on the movie Stuck on You in Miami, he met his future wife working behind the bar.

They've been together ever since and have four daughters together.

Matt loves the fact that he married a regular person.

"I got lucky," he told Esquire.

"I fell in love with a civilian. Not an actress and not a famous actress at that. Because then the attention doesn't double — it grows exponentially."

5. Mariah Carey and Nick Canon

Since Mariah is 10 years older than Nick, he grew up admiring the talented singer.

"Mariah’s my dream girl,” he told People in 2013. “I actually grew up as one of those guys that loved to see those pictures.”

Unfortunately, this couple finalized their divorce in 2016.

6. Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin

Long before they were married or even famously "conscious uncoupling," the Coldplay frontman would joke about how she was his girlfriend.

This piqued Gwyneth's interest enough that she decided to meet him at a concert.

7. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes

When Tom and Katie first started dating, they were both at very different levels of fame. Tom was a huge movie star, while Katie had earned some success from Dawsons Creek.

Katie would even confess her crush to her co-stars.

This included how she had a poster of him on her wall.

Then, she told Seventeen magazine in 2004 that she "used to think [she] was going to marry Tom Cruise."

While this ended up happening, the pair later divorced in 2012.

8. Jillian and Patrick Dempsey

Jillian was tickled when the Grey's Anatomy actor booked a haircut at her hair salon.

"I was shocked [when he came in for an appointment] but at the same time, I was happy because he was so cute," Jillian recalled to People.

After three years of haircuts and developing a bond, the actor learned that she was single and asked her out.

They got married in 1999 and have welcomed four kids together since then. Despite a brief separation in 2016, these two are still going strong.

9. Julia Roberts and Daniel Moder

These two had quite an interesting start. Danny was a huge fan of Julia's before they worked together on The Mexican (he was the cinematographer).

But since Moder was with his ex-wife, Vera Steimberg, at the time, Julia was soon branded as a homewrecker.

10. Adam Sandler and Jacqueline Titone

When Jackie met Adam on the set of Big Daddy, she was a model who had been wanting to break into acting.

She landed the small role of a waitress on the film, but also got so much more: the chance to date (and eventually marry) her celeb crush.

11. Prince William and Kate Middleton

Since Kate grew up with a poster of Prince William on her wall (been there, girlfriend), she was super nervous when she first met him at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.

"I actually think I went bright red when I met you and sort of scuttled off, feeling very shy," she said in their engagement interview.

The pair eventually went from friends to something more to one of the most adorable royal couples out there!

12. Billie Joe Armstrong and Adrienne Nesser

This is every fan-girls dream! The lead singer met his wife at his concert in Minnesota in 1990.

Since they were both in relationships at the time, it took a few years for them to get together. They've been married since 1994 and have two kids.

13. Joe Jonas

Before Joe was a married man to Sophie Turner, he had a habit of picking up fans at his concerts.

He revealed one of these times in New York magazine’s "Joe Jonas: My Life as a Jonas Brother.

"I remember I invited a fan to a movie, and we just made out the entire time," he told the publication.

"I don’t even remember what the movie was about. I must have been 16 or so."

We wonder what Sophie thinks about this!
