Jennifer Grey Gives Update On 'Dirty Dancing' Sequel: 'There Is No Replacing' Patrick Swayze

When it comes to classic '80s films, there are few that can compare to Dirty Dancing. Remember when this movie was considered risqué? If only we could have shown the world how not dirty the dancing would be compared to 2020! Dirty Dancing is practically G-rated compared to what they show in movies these days!

This movie is a classic, so when I heard there was a SEQUEL coming, I was skeptical. I was skeptical because I am sick of all these remakes, reboots, and reunions! They're never as good as the original!

However, our "baby" Jennifer Grey is going to be starring in it, so it's at least going to have that.

However, the Saved By The Bell reunion also has a lot of the original cast, but that doesn't mean it's not a garbage show! Kids today will never see the true magic of Bayside High, and that's a real tragedy if you ask me.

Fans first heard about the *Dirty Dancing* sequel back in August when the Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer confirmed that another film was in the works.

"Dirty Dancing 2 will be exactly the kind of romantic, nostalgic movie that the franchise’s fans have been waiting for and that have made it the biggest-selling library title in the Company’s history," he explained.

Fans love Jennifer Grey for many reasons — she's smart, she's talented and she reminds us of a time before we had AARP memberships. Fans also love her because she knows something very important will be missing from this sequel, and no, I'm not talking about her old nose. I'm talking about Patrick Swayze!

Her right-hand man. Her dance partner. Her defender.

It's hard to imagine a Dirty Dancing without Patrick Swayze!

The two of them truly made the film was it was. Now, Jennifer is discussing what this sequel means to her without her infamous co-star.

“All I can say is there is no replacing anyone who’s passed — you never try to repeat anything that’s magic like that,” the actress told People. "You just go for something different."

When asked why people today are still obsessed with the film over thirty years later, Jennifer said the "appeal was that it was very genuine and simple."

"It was about innocence and the way that innocence is lost and how people explode into a different iteration of themselves."

Kids today are nostalgic for the joy we got to experience first hand! I don't blame them, I miss those days too!
