Kelly Clarkson Opens Up About Her Divorce In Emotional Interview: 'It's Horrible'

Like all of us, Kelly Clarkson has had a tough 2020, but she's kept her signature optimism and positive attitude throughout it all.

Kelly Clarkson filed for divorce from her husband of seven years, Brandon Blackstock, back in June of this year, and recently opened up about the experience on her television show.

The year 2020 has been a bumpy year for Kelly Clarkson.

Back in June, it was announced that Kelly and her husband of seven years, Brandon Blackstock, would be divorcing due to "irreconcilable differences."

The couple share two children together, and Kelly has been very involved in the lives of Brandon's other children from before their marriage.

The separation has not been a particularly amicable one.

While both parties have avoided making public statements about their divorce proceedings, it doesn't look like it's been smooth sailing.

Brandon's father, Narvel Blackstock, owns Starstruck Management Group, which has been representing Kelly for 13 years. Starstruck recently sued Kelly for $1.4 million.

“Over the course of approximately 13 years, Starstruck developed Clarkson into a mega superstar,” the complaint reads.

“By way of example only, Starstruck was instrumental in helping Clarkson achieve success in terms of numerous hit albums, multiple Grammy wins and nominations, her role on popular television shows like ‘The Voice’ and her own talk show. Despite Starstruck’s hard work and dedication, Clarkson has decided she is going to stop paying Starstruck for what is contractually owed," Startruck alleges.

On top of that, it was recently reported that Brandon was demanding $436, 000 a month in spousal and child support.

People reported that even though Kelly has been awarded full custody of their children, Brandon is requesting a large monthly payment as well as requesting Kelly cover his attorney fees.

"Brandon's been equally unreasonable in his requests for child and spousal support, as well as attorney fees," their source says.

"Kelly's offered to pay for all the kids' expenses, but Brandon seems to think he is entitled to and needs $301K in spousal support and $135K in child support per month."

"Additionally, he's already asked for $2M for attorney fees when he's the one driving up the cost of the divorce with seven attorneys just representing him alone."

"As Kelly has said, her first priority in all of this is to take care of the kids and all the hearts that are involved in this divorce," added another source.

It's clear that her kids are the number one priority for Kelly, as she explained in a new interview!

On a recent episode of *The Kelly Clarkson Show*, Kelly spoke to author Glennon Doyle.

Kelly explained that she was a huge fan of Glennon's novel Untamed, saying, "Glennon, you write about the fallout from your divorce — I'm obviously going through one right now."

"It's horrible," Kelly explained.

"There are so many hard parts. The hardest for me is the kids," Kelly went on to say. "I think, as women especially, we're trained to take it all on and deal with it and you're fine. But it's your babies that you worry about."

"This isn't happiness, and we both deserve better," Kelly added.

"That line so hit home for me. I don't want this for everyone in this scenario right now."
