Sofia Vergara Producing 'Zorro' Television Series With A Female Zorro

It's always complicated when a beloved franchise, series, or character gets a reboot, remake, or re-imagining. On the one hand, it's an opportunity for new life to be breathed into a classic and to introduce new audiences to the original, but on the other, doesn't it kind of feel like we've had enough remakes, reboots, and redos?

There's one more coming for the beloved character of Zorro, but this time with a twist.

Zorro has been a beloved character in cinema for a century.

From the 1920 silent film to Antonio Banderas' beloved '90s take, Zorro the masked vigilante has been capturing the hearts and minds of movie-goers for years.

The hat, the mask, and the signature "Z" mark left behind from his excellent sword-work are iconic!

Sofia Vergara is producing a new 'Zorro' series for NBC.

Sofia Vergara, who's best known as the bombshell beauty Gloria on Modern Family, alongside filmmaker Robert Rodriguez and others, will be producing a brand new Zorro series, but this time, the iconic vigilante will be a woman!

The series will follow a character named Sola Dominguez.

According to Deadline, Sola is "an underground artist who fights for social justice as contemporary version of the mythical Zorro."

Honestly, this sounds pretty interesting!

What do you think?

Are you excited to see this fresh take on the classic character, or do you think Hollywood should focus on creating new characters and new films rather than reboots or remakes? Let us know how you feel in the comments!
