Finland Has Been Giving Free 'Baby Boxes' Full Of Newborn Essentials To Parents For Over 80 Years

When you become a parent for the first time, you will face many new challenges. For starters, now you have to take care of a newborn baby who solely relies on you for everything.

Therefore, new parents need to be prepared for pretty much anything. So it's awesome to hear that at least one country looks out for parents in a very special way.

Did you know the government of Finland has been providing new parents with baby starter packs for the past 82 years?

Wow, isn't that amazing? I think so. After all, new parents need all the help they can get. Right?

Finland's maternity package program helps to alleviate some of the stresses new parents face when they welcome a baby.

Parents receive a "baby box" packed full of essentials the baby will need during their first year on Earth.

The baby box comes with such items as baby clothes and various care products for both Mom and the baby.

The vast array of clothes include things like a snowsuit that doubles as a sleeping bag. Oh my goodness, that's so wonderful.

There are also other clothing items like lightweight overalls, caps and balaclavas, onesies and jumpsuits, tights, mittens, and socks.

I've got to say, I'm pretty impressed by it already. What about you? I think any new parents could use stuff like this, no?

In addition to clothing, there are also other necessities for the baby.

These include a sleeping bag and blanket. There's also bedding and linen, a pocket nappy, a towel, and a drooling bib.

The box also comes with a child’s first book and a cuddly toy that doubles as a comfort blanket.

Aw, isn't that so sweet? I love the idea of this baby box. After all, it's hard to be a first-time parent as it is.

Let's not forget about the mom. She needs some items for herself as well.

The box also contains personal care products for mothers like bra pads, nail scissors, a toothbrush, a digital thermometer, talcum powder, nipple cream, condoms, lubricant, sanitary towels, a bath thermometer, and a hairbrush.

To top it off, this environmentally-friendly box doubles as a safe baby bed lined with a cushion for comfort.

No way! It looks to me like they thought of everything. Ah, to live in Finland, huh? They have the right idea there.

The box comes with about 60 items if you count them all. Isn't that amazing or what?

I mean, what a load to take off from so many new parents. Now they don't have to worry they forgot to buy something crucial.

The items actually get updated every year based on client feedback.

So rest assured, the new parents are receiving the latest and greatest in baby products. Wow, I think that impresses me even more!

Funnily enough, the inspiration to create the Finnish Baby Box was simply from the creators' own experience when they were expecting their first babies.

It gave them firsthand knowledge of what new parents may need after all. Aw, isn't that so sweet to know?

Usually, first-time parents don't have a clue what they need for the baby.

So this box is such a great start for them. Once they receive all the necessities, they can simply focus on what's important. That's, of course, taking care of the baby.

This idea of a "baby box" has been around in Finland for over 80 years.

Finally, now more countries are starting to make something like this available for their expecting parents. I hope this idea gets expanded all over the world.

There are over 40,000 maternity packages distributed every year.

Some mothers opt for financial support instead of the actual "baby box." Either way, I think it's a wonderful way to support new parents. After all, they need all the help they can get, right?

So what do you think of this idea?

Do you feel like every country's government should do the same for new parents? I commend Finland for doing this to help new parents. I bet they all really appreciate this gesture.
