10+ Celebrities Who Almost Killed Their Careers With One Bad Social Media Post

As fun as social media is, it's also incredibly dangerous.

We've seen regular people lose jobs, friends, and respect from the world over one bad post.

Now imagine what happens when celebs with millions of followers mess up. They face every celeb's greatest fear: getting canceled.

Here are 10+ celebs who almost killed their careers with one bad social media post.

1. Azealia Banks

The rapper got herself banned from Twitter after she went on a racially-charged attack against singer Zayn.

She used several homophobic and racial slurs against him, which is never okay. Suffice to say, she's not everyone's favorite celeb.

2. Amanda Bynes

Ms. Bynes is no stranger to controversy. Back in 2012, she sent Twitter into a tizzy when she tweeted out, "I want @Drake to murder my vagina."

While her mental health is doing a lot better these days, her career is still stalled.

3. Roseanne Barr

The actress' career bombed when she wrote a racist tweet about Valerie Jarrett, Barack Obama’s former White House adviser.

Her now-deleted insensitive tweet said, "muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby = vj."

Unfortunately, her offensive tweet affected more than just her career.

It also affected the cast and crew of Roseanne as a whole, as the revival was canceled.

Johnny Galecki, for instance, called it "such a fiercely, ugly thing to say."

4. Lena Dunham

The Girls star was controversial before she told the world that we don't need fathers on Father's Day.

She ended up deleting the tweet due to the backlash. But people haven't thought of her too kindly since then.

5. Drake Bell

When Caitlyn Jenner decided to introduce herself to the world after her transition, Bell stuck his foot in his mouth big time with an offensive tweet.

He wrote, "Sorry...still calling you Bruce." The backlash was immediate, causing Drake to remove the tweet.

6. James Franco

The actor branded himself as a "creepy older dude" when he tried to arrange a hotel hookup with a 17-year-old girl on Instagram.

Franco had met the girl at his Broadway show, Of Mice and Men, in New York City.

Soon, people started calling him "thirsty for underage ones" on his Instagram.

This caused him to respond, "I'M NOT! I HOPE PARENTS KEEP THEIR TEENS AWAY FROM ME. Thank you."

How can a career survive after that?

7. French Montana

The singer didn't take too kindly to a Black woman calling him "irrelevant" on social media.

In retaliation, he called her a "Dusty Rusty Ass [expletive] With Nappy Hair." As you can imagine, this didn't go over well.

8. Kodak Black

The rapper kept digging himself into a hole when he said that he doesn't like Black girls on Instagram Live. When he tried to clarify, he made things worse.

"We too gutter. Black people, my complexion, we too gutter. Light skin women, they’re more sensitive," he said.

9. Justin Bieber

When it comes to April Fools, there are just some pranks you should never pull.

Faking a pregnancy is definitely one of them, but Justin Bieber and his wife, Hailey, did it anyway. They even shared pictures of them at the doctor's office...

10. Jonathan Cheban

The reality star proved his irrelevance when he asked fans if he should go live, and they gave him a resounding "no."

To add to this embarrassment, Martha Stewart once tweeted a picture of Jonathan and asked if fans knew him.

11. Madonna

When the singer was promoting her new album, she used several notable faces from history to promote it.

This included Nelson Mandela, Jesus, and Martin Luther King Jr. People found this super distasteful.

12. Courtney Love

When the MH370 Malaysian flight went missing, Courtney Love put on her detective hat.

She ended up tweeting that she had found the missing plane. Only thing is, she didn't... Her tweet ended up giving false hope to the loved ones.

13. Ashton Kutcher

"How do you fire Jo Pa? #insult #noclass as a hawkeye fan I find it in poor taste," Kutcher tweeted in defense of Penn State's coach, Joe Paterno.

Thing is, the coach had been fired for neglecting to address alleged child molestation that had taken place in his locker room...

14. Bow Wow

The rapper proved himself to be a liar after he lied about taking a private plane.

He became the laughing stock of the internet after a Twitter user outed the singer slumming it in coach.

15. Chris Brown

The singer's reputation was already in the dirt when this photo of him dressed as a terrorist for Halloween surfaced.

People were offended everywhere, including on Twitter, where one person called him the "least self-aware celebrity on earth."

16. Kesha

The singer had the whole internet confused — and a bit disgusted — when she shared a picture of herself peeing on the side of the road in California.

"pee pee on the street," she wrote.

"PoPo come n get me if u can find meeee. I blame traffik (sic)," she continued.

The whole act came off as completely disrespectful.

And if she had been caught by the police, she would have actually been fined.

17. Vanessa Hudgens

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Vanessa decided to participate in an Instagram LIVE with her fans.

She sparked outrage when she said that the lockdown was "bull[expletive]" and that people dying, although terrible, was inevitable.

18. Kevin Hart

Recently, Kevin Hart came under fire in the press for homophobic tweets that were brought to light from years past.

The renowned comedian was all set to host the 2019 Academy Awards but was forced to step down amid the controversy.

19. Charlie Sheen

Charlie was a ticking timebomb for years. His strange, delusional Twitter rant wound up getting him fired from Two and a Half Men.

He has only recently begun to clean up his image.

20. Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay has made multiple damning videos and posts over the years.

But undoubtedly the oddest would have to be the time that she got punched in the head after trying to kidnap the children from a Syrian refugee family on the street.

21. Dean Norris

To say that Dean nearly killed his career with this post might be a bit of a stretch.

Then again, tweeting "sex gifs" for the world to see certainly isn't helping him book any jobs. Certainly not the kind we'd want to see him in.

22. Kanye West

I don't know if there's anything Kanye could do to truly kill his career. When it comes to this hip hop icon, the emperor has no clothes as far as I'm concerned.

How else do you explain wearing a MAGA hat and getting away with it?

23. Miguel

I thought Miguel couldn't do any worse after landing on that poor girl's head during his missed stage dive at the 2013 Billboard Awards.

Has he not learned that it's never a good idea to make grand sweeping generalizations about entire groups of people?

24. Alec Baldwin

Alec was less than pleased after reports began to surface that his wife, Hilaria, was tweeting during James Gandolfini's funeral ceremony.

Fueled by rage, Alec decided to seek out the reporter and erupt into a homophobic rant — which he posted all over his Twitter feed.

25. Tyrese Gibson

After losing custody of his 10-year-old daughter, Tyrese broke down on social media.

He began sobbing and screaming for the judge to not take his baby away. He later blamed the rant on prescription psychiatric meds.

26. Gucci Mane

Gucci Mane is an eccentric guy. Let's not forget that the man tattooed an ice cream cone on the side of his face just for kicks.

Still, calling out every single major artist in hip hop was a bold move — even for Gucci.

27. Manny Pacquiao

Manny Pacquiao is one of the most iconic boxers of all time.

His career suffered greatly after he began tweeting some incredibly homophobic comments relating to the topic of gay marriage. He has since issued a full apology for his remarks.

28. Scheana Shay

The former star of Vanderpump Rules decided that COVID-19 wasn't as serious as the media was making it out to be.

Scheana publically declared that nothing would prevent her from living her life the way she wanted. She apologized after issuing a public invitation to all her friends to quarantine with her via Twitter.

29. John Mayer

The only thing worse than John Mayer's racist, sexist, and misogynistic interview with Rolling Stone was the half-baked apology he mustered via Twitter.

Mayer said it was his own fault for being too real in interviews. OK, John, whatever you say.

30. Paula Deen

Paula can't seem to keep out of trouble. After admitting to using the N-word, Paula was fired from her show on the Food Network.

Two years later, she tweeted a photo of her son dressed in brown-face.

28. Dave Chappelle

Alcohol and social media rarely mix well together, a truth Dave Chappelle came to learn the hard way.

During a cameo appearance on John Mayer's Instagram show, "Current Mood," Dave used a homophobic slur when referring to musical guest Daniel Caesar.

31. Snoop Dogg

After Gayle King brought up Kobe Bryant's sexual assault case, hip hop legend Snoop Dogg became irate.

Snoop's reply video is basically one long verbal tirade. He concludes by telling Gayle to "respect the family before we come get you."
