Nation's First Plus-Size Bridal Salon Makes Every Bride Feel Beautiful

As a future plus-size bride, I can't begin to express how hard it is to find bridal stores that are accessible or open to plus-size brides. It's so hard to feel beautiful when surrounded by only sample size dresses and models!

Thankfully, Curvaceous Couture Bridal is here to help.

They're a Black-owned boutique located in Columbia, Maryland.

Founded by sisters Yukia and Yuneisia Walker, Curvaceous Couture aims to give plus-size brides a bridal experience that Yukia herself was denied when she was shopping for her wedding dress.

Yukia had a traumatizing time finding her dress.

"Although armed with a generous budget, she soon realized the boutiques had little to no selection of plus sized gowns and was horrified to see her size 14 frame stuffed into a size 10 gown," she wrote on their site.

After being laughed out of a salon for asking for a size 16, she said enough was enough.

"After hearing other full-figured [brides'] horror stories, she and her sister Yuneisia decided enough was enough!! The fledgling Curvaceous Couture started in their Dad’s basement soon thereafter and the rest is history!"

Now, they have a booming business!

"Curvaceous Couture is the first designer bridal boutique to feature a complete collection of full-figured and one-of-a-kind wedding gowns from all over the world in sizes 16-32W."

Brides in the Baltimore-Washington area can visit the boutique to find their perfect dress.

If you're located anywhere near there, you can book an appointment to visit the boutique and try on dresses in a safe, accepting environment.

No one will judge you — they'll hype you up!

If you can't visit them in-store, they also offer online services!

They have a curated catalog available online with dresses ranging from 22-30W.

They adore their brides, too.

After their brides purchase a gown, CCBC makes sure to post the gorgeous shots from their weddings on their Instagram, along with their well-wishes for the happy couples!

They've also achieved major recognition from the bridal world!

They've been featured on Brides.com, and now have over 14,000 followers on Instagram! We love to see such an amazing, hardworking pair find success doing what they love!

Oh, and by the way — they're also on TV.

TLC featured the sisters in Curvy Brides, and the brand took off in a whole new way. They're now an internationally recognized boutique that strives to make ALL brides feel beautiful!
