Adoption is something that has brought happiness and love to many peoples' lives, and there are actually many well-known celebrities out there who were adopted.

Nicole Richie

Nicole's biological father is musician Peter Michael Escovedo, but she was adopted by Lionel Richie as a child.

Richie temporarily took care of Nicole while her parents were having relationship struggles, and he ended up officially adopting her.

Keegan-Michael Key

The comedian and actor was adopted after his birth, but he met his birth mother in his 20s.

"In 1996 I found my biological mother. I am adopted. Finding her was something that had always been in my mind. My parents always said, 'That's a possibility for you.'" Key told Chicago Now.

Ice T

The story of why this famous rapper was adopted is pretty sad. When he was eight, his mother died of a heart attack, and then, his father died of a heart attack four years later.

However, his aunts then raised him and eventually adopted him.

JC Chasez

After being born in 1976, the former member of *NSYNC was given by his birth member to her former foster parents. She did this because she thought they could provide him with more stability.

Roy and Karen Chasez officially adopted him when he was five years old.

Snooki

Snooki, whose legal name is Nicole Polizzi, was born in Santiago, Chile.

The Jersey Shore star was adopted at six months old.

"[My parents] flew all the way to Chile to pick me up and they said as soon as I saw them, I said 'Mama, dada.' So, it was meant to be," Snooki said on her vlog.

This famous country singer grew up in Mississippi after being adopted.

When she got older and started to work on her singing career, she decided to look for her birth family.

"I have a lot of respect for my birth mother. I know she must have had a lot of love for me to want to give what she felt was a better chance," she told GH.

Kristin Chenoweth

The singer and actress who is well-known for her role as Glinda in Wicked is another star who was adopted as a baby.

"It was never something that was hidden from me and it is not something I have ever been ashamed of," she said in an interview with Huffington Post.

Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs is one of the most influential people in the world as he completely changed how we live our daily lives as the CEO of Apple.

The late Jobs was adopted as a newborn by Paul and Clara Jobs.

Michael Bay

The famous director was adopted as a child by his parents Harriet and Jim.

In an interview with Rolling Stone he said, "I think I was five or six when I found out about being adopted. And, no. No, I don't think it was traumatic."

Colin Kaepernick

Colin Kaepernick is both a talented athlete and an influential activist, and he was actually adopted when he was a baby.
