Robert De Niro Slammed For Comments About Trump In Impeachment Hearing

Robert De Niro's controversial comments about Donald Trump are coming back to bite him.

The actor has been accused of rousing the violence ahead of the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection.

He's not alone, either — Madonna and Kathy Giffin were also blamed for their involvement in bashing Trump in the past.

Keep reading for all the drama surrounding Trump's second impeachment.

Robert De Niro has long had a feud with President Donald Trump.

The Taxi Driver actor has been one of the more outspoken anti-Trump critics ever since Donald ran for president in 2016.

“What he’s been saying is really totally crazy, ridiculous … he is totally nuts,” he said to an audience in Sarajevo at the time.

“I don’t know, it’s crazy that people like Donald Trump. He shouldn’t even be where he is, so God help us," he continued.

The actor hasn't minced any words since then. In a video urging people to vote in the 2016 election, De Niro said that he would like to punch Trump in the face.

To De Niro's horror, Trump was elected as President that year.

Never one to back down, Donald has fired back at some of the actor's comments.

Not long after De Niro said "[Expletive] Trump" while accepting an award at the Tony Awards, the president responded on Twitter, calling De Niro "brain-damaged."

He called him a "a very Low IQ individual" who "has received too many shots to the head by real boxers in movies."

Now, in 2021, De Niro has found himself dragged into controversy involving Trump once again.

This time, he, along with several other A-list celebrities, have been accused of rousing the violence that took place at the Capitol insurrection on January 6.

This tragically led to the deaths of five people, including Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick.

It was Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) who slammed Di Niro for comments about Trump in the unprecedented impeachment hearing.

This historically marks the second impeachment for Trump.

The conservative politician has been working with other politicians to stop House Speaker Nancy Pelosi from impeaching Trump for the second time.

"[T]he socialists in Hollywood joined their allies in Congress," the politician argued on the House floor.

"Robert De Niro said he wanted to punch the president in the face," he continued.

"Madonna thought about blowing up the White House." This was in reference to the singer's reaction to Trump taking office in 2017.

“Yes, I'm angry. Yes, I am outraged. Yes, I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House," she said in a speech at a Women's Rally in D.C.

While she later clarified her comments, saying that she was "wildly taken out of context," the impact of her words remained.

Buck continued: "Kathy Lee Griffin [sic] held up a likeness of the president's beheaded head and nothing was said by my colleagues at that point in time."

This was in response to the controversial 2017 photoshoot Griffin took part in where she held up a decapitated head of Trump.

Her career ended up suffering dramatically as a result, with many friend and sponsorship losses.

She was been investigated by the Secret Service.

Despite her apologies, she resurfaced the photo after Trump falsely claimed that he was winning the November 2020 election.

So far, Griffin has been the only named celeb to speak out in her defense against Buck.

Not surprisingly, she did so with her signature humor: "My only take away... 'Kathy Griffin AND MADONNA,'" she tweeted.

To this, she added footage of Buck flubbing her name in his speech. "Kathy LEE Griffin, reporting for duty."

As for Madonna and Robert, representatives for the celebs have not released comments at this time.

Given De Niro's track record of being outspoken about Trump, though, we will probably hear from him soon.

In the meantime, check out Buck's speech for yourself. What do you think of him calling out these celebs? Let us know in the comments!
