'Gilmore Girls' David Sutcliffe Denies Being At Capitol Riot, Compliments 'Patriot' In Video

On January 6th, the world was shocked as right-wing protestors stormed the U.S. Capitol building in protest of the results of the 2020 presidential election. Some celebrities have come forward to deny their involvement in the protests, and the latest denial comes from Gilmore Girls star David Sutcliffe, whose controversial tweet on the subject sparked a lot of backlash.

David Sutcliffe is best known for his role as Christopher on *Gilmore Girls*.

While he has since retired from acting, David also appeared on Forever Knight, Under The Tuscan Sun, Cake, and Private Practice. David now works as a life coach.

David recently caused a stir when he shared a video to his Twitter feed.

David used the video of a rioter at the Capitol on January 6th to dispel some "rumors."

"There are rumors circulating that I 'stormed the capital.'" David tweeted alongside a video of a protestor smoking marijuana in the Capitol riot. "Not true — though I would have been proud to share a smoke with this great Patriot!"

Fans immediately took issue with David referring to the man in the video as a "great Patriot."

"How did you stray so far from being Canadian that you'd be proud to have anything to do with any of these hateful people. Your an American now. And not a good one," one fan responded.

However, David has since responded to the backlash, telling a fan they were correct when they asked if he was kidding.

However, David has liked some controversial tweets in the past, including one claiming that "women's politics is best for the home, men's politics is best for the world."
