Donald Trump Pardons Lil Wayne In Final Hours Of His Presidency

Donald Trump is certainly no strangers to making controversial decisions while in office. Over the past four years of his presidency, many detractors have criticized many of his choices. Just before the end of his term on January 20, the president made another controversial decision and pardoned "A Milli" and "Lollipop" rapper Lil Wayne, among others.

Rapper Lil Wayne had caused a stir when he endorsed Donald Trump in the 2020 election.

"Just had a great meeting with @realdonaldtrump @potus besides what he’s done so far with criminal reform, the platinum plan is going to give the community real ownership," he tweeted at the time. "He listened to what we had to say today and assured he will and can get it done."

In his final hours of presidency before the inauguration of President-Elect Joe Biden, Trump has granted Lil Wayne clemency following a guilty plea to illegal posession of a firearm.

Wayne was facing up to 10 years in prison before the pardon.

"President Trump granted a full pardon to Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., also known as 'Lil Wayne,'" White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said in a statement.

"Mr. Carter pled guilty to possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon, owing to a conviction over 10 years ago."

"Brett Berish of Sovereign Brands, who supports a pardon for Mr. Carter, describes him as 'trustworthy, kind-hearted and generous.' Mr. Carter has exhibited this generosity through commitment to a variety of charities, including donations to research hospitals and a host of foodbanks," McEnany went on.

McEnany's statement continued.

"Deion Sanders, who also wrote in support of this pardon, calls Mr. Wayne 'a provider for his family, a friend to many, a man of faith, a natural giver to the less fortunate, a waymaker, [and] a game changer.'"

We're sure this comes as good news to Wayne's family, friends, and supporters!
