Fans Are Signing A Petition To Make Betty White's Birthday 'Betty White Day'

Betty White's birthday is basically a national holiday! She's a treasure, and every year on her birthday we love to celebrate her extensive list of achievements as well as her delightful personality and fantastic sense of humor, although we don't do it in an official capacity.

A new petition is looking to change that — at least in Betty's home town of Oak Park in Illinois.

Betty White is an icon.

There's nobody in Hollywood who has had the career that Betty White has had — literally, she's a world record holder for longest career in entertainment!

On top of that, she's hilarious, adorable, and feisty, which is everything I'd like to be when I grow up!

Betty recently celebrated her 99th birthday.

Not only is making it to 99 quite an achievement in itself, but she's still working and getting stuff done! She has a Christmas movie in the works, and she is working on re-releasing her talk show, The Pet Set.

Betty shared an Instagram post on her birthday announcing as much.

"Would you believe it?! It's my 99th birthday which means I can stay up as late as I want without asking. I am also very pleased to let you know about the re-release of my long-lost series after fifty years! I am just so proud of the “Pet Set”. I hope everyone is well and staying safe. We will get through this," Betty wrote.

A petition has been created on Change.org suggesting that Betty's birthday should be recognized as Betty White Day.

"Betty White is a national treasure. She’s been an entertainer for over eight decades and is still going strong," the description of the petition reads, which has, at time of writing, gained over a thousand signatures.

The description continued:

"She was on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Golden Girls, and Hot in Cleveland, putting a smile on our faces all the while. Oak Park, White’s hometown in Illinois, should honor her by creating a Betty White Day on her birthday, January 17," the petition finished.

Would you sign?

What do you think? Should Betty White Day be celebrated in Oak Park? Personally, I think it should be celebrated worldwide — and I think we should all get a day off work for it, too! I always thought January needed more holidays...
