Gwyneth Paltrow's 'Vagina' Candle Reportedly Explodes In Woman's House

I know I'm a bit of a worry-wort when it comes to candles, but I'm always concerned about letting them burn without my watchful eye on them. Usually what I'm concerned about is my cat getting into it or knocking it over, though, and not a full-fledged explosion, which is what happened to a woman who bought a very particular candle sold by Gwyneth Paltrow.

Gwyneth made headlines last year when she announced her company Goop would be selling this candle.

The candle, titled, "This Smells Like My Vagina," definitely drew a lot of attention.

The website describes the candle as "With a funny, gorgeous, sexy, and beautifully unexpected scent, this candle is made with geranium, citrusy bergamot, and cedar absolutes juxtaposed with Damask rose and ambrette seed to put us in mind of fantasy, seduction, and a sophisticated warmth."

However, a woman who bought the candle is now claiming that it exploded in her house after she had lit it.

“The candle exploded and emitted huge flames, with bits flying everywhere. I’ve never seen anything like it. The whole thing was ablaze and it was too hot to touch," Jody Thompson told The Sun about the experience.

"There was an inferno in the room," she said.

“We eventually got it under control and threw it out the front door," Jody went on. “It could have burned the place down. It was scary at the time, but funny looking back that Gwyneth’s vagina candle exploded in my living room.”

Goop also made a statement about the issue.

“We’re in touch with the woman to see if she followed the specific fire safety instructions included with the candle, such as trimming the wick and not burning it for more than two hours," they said.

We're glad everyone's okay, but I think I might be skipping out on this candle on my next purchase!
