Tampons are super absorbent products that women use during their menstrual cycle.
Women have to insert tampons into their bodies in order for them to absorb any blood or secretions.
Many women prefer to use tampons over pads.
Some women prefer to use tampons, as they are more discreet and are more comfortable during athletic activities. However, others prefer pads, as tampons can be uncomfortable for some.
Regardless of what you use, many women know simply the science and how-to behind tampons.
Knowing how they work is something women are taught early on in life, so they are best prepared when they reach that milestone.
Men, on the other hand, are not usually exposed to how tampons work.
For men who grow up in homes where there are not many women in the house, knowing how tampons work is not something they learn and discuss.
Some boys learn about tampons in health class during school.
Most students take health in high school and learn about the female body and anatomy, as well as the various tools and products aimed toward women.
However, not all boys learn how tampons work specifically in these classes.
There are many men who go through life not 100% sure of how tampons work at all, other than knowing that they are used by women while they are on their period.
Recently on TikTok, a new trend has helped men learn how tampons work.
For those who don't know the "science" behind tampons, this new TikTok trend has gotten guys up front and center with the products.
It all started with a couple who were awaiting the arrival of their newborn daughter.
TikTok users Kolby and Jas, who go by @thedemeryfamily22 on the platform, shared a video where Kolby showed Jas how tampons work because he simply had no idea.
Using a water bottle and a tampon, the couple shared their viral demonstration online with their followers.
The look on Jas' face pretty much sums up his disbelief.
Others then picked up on the trend and began showing their boyfriends and husbands, too.
Some of the husbands and boyfriends looked absolutely terrified to be holding a tampon.
Once they saw how the tampon expanded in the water, they were shocked.
This husband seemed absolutely blown away to see exactly how the tampon expanded in the water, allowing him to put two and two together when it comes to periods.
Others sat with their boyfriends to showcase the changes.
Some boyfriends were totally weirded out to see that there were some major changes in the process. Their faces are priceless!
Some guys were confused just by the applicator alone.
Some guys seemed to be confused on how to use the tampon applicator, unsure of how to "shoot" the tampon itself out of the plastic.
Others were dumbfounded by how big it expands in the water.
This boyfriend seemed to be utterly shocked that tampons absorb that much liquid. His girlfriend, on the other hand, looks like she's had enough!
However, this reaction definitely takes the cake.
This boyfriend looks completely confused by the science behind tampon technology as he watches his girlfriend dip the product in the water bottle.
And then, goes right to "I'm going to puke."
Upon seeing how big the tampon gets in the water, he looks like he's about to totally hurl all over the place. Nice, guy. Very classy.
