Bindi Irwin Opens Up About The Type Of Grandpa Steve Would Have Been

If I could choose to be in any family other than my own, I think I would have to pick the Irwins. Not only would I have daily free access to the entire Australian Zoo, but I would get to join a family that so obviously loves and appreciates each other to the ends of the earth and still find the sweetest ways to honor those who have passed!

Steve Irwin was legendary.

Not only was he delightful, funny, and educational to watch teach us about wildlife on television, he was also all around an incredible person. You can tell by the impact he left behind on the world and on his beautiful family.

Steve's daughter, Bindi, announced last year she was pregnant with her first child.

Bindi's baby will make what would have been Steve's first grandchild, and the family sat down with Entertainment Tonight to talk about how excited Steve would have been to become a grandfather to the baby girl currently on the way.

"He would've been a good, good grandpa," Bindi said.

"Yeah, he really would've been," she added. "I don't think we would've ever seen our daughter. He would've just whisked her away into the zoo and it would've been perfect."

I can see that so clearly — he wouldn't have left that baby girl's side!

"But it is so nice that we'll be able to introduce her to her grandfather through all of the documentaries," Bindi went on.

"It's really special," she said.

Her brother Robert added to that sentiment, saying, "I think it's really special that as a family we get to remember him, honor him in absolutely everything that we do."

"Now with a new little wildlife warrior taking on the charge, he would just be insanely excited," Robert said.

There's no doubt that Steve would be absolutely over the moon to meet his first grandchild, and we're sure the entire Irwin family is going to make sure that when the baby comes, she knows how loved she is by the entire family AND the world!
