Sometimes when unexpected opportunities arise, there's a chance to make a difference.
One Chik-Fil-A employee redefined both friendship and kindness when she decided to help her co-worker in a pretty inspiring way. Her story reminds us that good deeds still exist, and lifting someone up can make an incredible difference in their life.
According to TODAY, 17-year-old Haley Bridges and Hokule’a Taniguchi, 19, work together at a Chik-Fil-A restaurant in Appleton, Wisconsin. While they first got to know each other during their shared shifts, their friendship now extends beyond the workplace with regular hangouts and a sisterly bond.
Taniguchi didn't have a car to drive to work, so she relied on riding her bike in the cold winter weather, and Bridges often worried about her friend's safety during her dangerous commute.
During one exceptional company Christmas party, Bridges won a raffle contest and was gifted a brand new car. Since she already has one, she could have certainly sold it or eve traded it in, but she decided to do something incredible with it instead — she gave it away to her friend in need.
Not only did Bridge give Taniguchi a car, but her aunt also hosted a fundraiser to pay the car off entirely.
"No one deserves it more than Hoku," Bridges told TODAY of the incredible gift.
Clearly, this wasn't just a random kind deed, it was a community stepping up to care for one of their own.
Bridges' mom wasn't sure if her daughter should give up a car, but the teen had zero regrets about her decision to help her friend.
After this act of kindness, even more good fortune came into Taniguchi's life when she was able to lease her own apartment near work. It's a truly inspirational thing when friendship leads to positive change.
