Joe Biden Celebrates Presidents’ Day By Playing Mario Kart With His Grandkids

It's been nearly a month since Joe Biden was officially sworn in as the 46th president of the United States, but he hasn't let his position stop him from being the same, fun-loving grandpa he was before he took office.

On Monday, Biden returned to the White House after a fun-filled Presidents' Day weekend spent at Camp David with those nearest and dearest to him: his family. And what better way to bond with his grandkids than over a few playful rounds of everyone's favorite Nintendo game, Mario Kart.

On Saturday, Naomi Biden, the 27-year-old daughter of the president's son, Hunter, shared a photo of her grandpa showing his playful side.

The snap, which was shared to Naomi's Instagram story, depicts her and Biden sitting side-by-side behind the wheels of the arcade-style game, playfully racing against each other.

"Secret service made an exception and let him drive himself," a caption at the top of the photo reads, with another below adding, "A little rusty but he still won (barely)."

That same day, Naomi shared even more pictures of her grandpa, this time showing him sporting some pretty cool POTUS "swag."

"We bought him some swag since it's Presidents' Day weekend and he's 'literally' President," she captioned a photo of Biden wearing a tan Camp David hat, along with an Air Force One leather jacket that reads, "JOE BIDEN / COMMANDER IN CHIEF."

Naomi also showed that the back of the cap reads "Pop," which she joked was in an effort "to make sure the job title doesn't get to his head."

Before he left the White House for the family retreat on Friday, Bloomberg reports that Biden told reporters, “We’re going to be up at Camp David for Valentine’s Day."

As for what he and his crew had planned for the weekend, he added they would “just hang out with the family and do what we always do."

This was the first time Biden had been to Camp David since officially becoming president of the United States.

The retreat in western Maryland has long been a favorable getaway for many of Biden's predecessors and their families.

As the Independent reported, the location is an ideal spot for hosting dignitaries, as well as for simply escaping Washington, D.C., as it features a heated swimming pool, archery range, bowling alley, cinema, and fitness suite.
