10+ Actors Who Earned An Oscar And A Razzie Nomination In The Same Year

Winning an Oscar is what every actress and actor is shooting for. It's the proudest moment of their career.

So it's kind of ironic that someone earns an Oscar and a Razzie nomination in the same year, since a Razzie is the official way of saying "your movie was crap".

I can only imagine that being nominated for both of these awards would cause some very conflicting emotions, and possibly existential crisis.

In 2004, Alec Baldwin was nominated for an Oscar, for "Best Supporting Actor" for his role in The Cooler. Later that same he was nominated for a Razzie for his role in The Cat in the Hat.

Rooney Mara.

Alongside Rachel McAdams, and Jennifer Jason Leigh, Rooney Mara was nominated for best supporting actress for her role in the film Carol.

But she was then nominated for a Razzie, for her performance in the Peter Pan adaptation, Pan.

Sylvester Stallone.

Sylvester Stallone was praised for his performance in the movie Creed, where he played a boxing coach. He was nominated for an Oscar, but unfortunately did not take home the golden statue.

And to make matters worse, he won the Razzie Redeemer Award.

Melissa McCarthy.

This year, Melissa was nominated for an Academy Award for her role in Can You Ever Forgive Me? But shortly after that, her efforts were cancelled out when she was considered to win "Worst Actress" for her performance in Life of the Party.

Christopher Walken.

Christopher Walken has won an Academy Award in the past, but was nominated for another one in 2003 for his performance in Catch Me If You Can.

But when Razzie season came around, they gave him the deserved recognition for his part in Disney's The Country Bears.

Uma Thurman.

Back in 1995, Uma won an Oscar for her role as Mia Wallace in Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction. One I think we can all agree was very much deserved.

But her part in Even Cowgirls Get the Blues wasn't quite as memorable for the same reasons, and ended up earning her a Razzie nomination.

Eddie Redmayne.

Eddie was nominated for an Oscar in 2016, for his role in The Danish Girl. He was up against Bryan Cranston, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon and Michael Fassbender for best actor in a leading role.

But not long after, he was nominated for a Razzie along with everyone else in the film The Theory of Everything.

Jack Nicholson.

Jack Nicholson had already won two Academy Awards in the past, and was nominated again, for the 10th time, for his performance in A Few Good Men. Truly impressive.

Unfortunately, that same year, Jack was nominated for two Razzies, for his work in both Hoffa and Man Trouble.

Amy Irving.

The one and only time Amy Irving was nominated for an Oscar, for her part in Yentl, was also the same year she was nominated for a Razzie for the same role in that same movie.

Amy can't seem to catch a break.

James Coco has only ever had one Oscar nomination, and it was for his work in Only When I Laugh. In the end, the award was given to somebody else.

And just when he thought his luck couldn't get any worse, he was nominated for a Razzie for his unfortunate performance in Mommie Dearest.

Sandra Bullock.

In 2010, Sandra won an Oscar for her performance in Blind Side. But later that year she also won a Golden Raspberry for her performance in All About Steve.

There have been actors and actresses to win an Oscar and a Razzie in the past, just not in the same year. Like, Liza Minnelli.

In 1972, Liza took home a golden statue for her work in Cabaret. But wound up getting herself Razzies for her performances in two different movies: Arthur 2: On the Rocks, and Rent-a-Cop.

Sofia is one of very few women to ever win an Oscar for best director. In 2004, she won an Academy Award for best screenplay, for her work in Lost In Translation.

But before she became so successful, she had a role in the movie The Godfather: Part III, which ended up earning her two Razzies.

Halle Berry.

In 2002, just after making history for being the first black woman to win the Oscar for best leading actress, Halle went on to win a Razzie for her abysmal performance in Catwoman.

Faye Dunaway.

Faye Dunaway was is a three-time Oscar nominated actress, when she finally earned her first Academy Award in 1977, for her work in Network.

Sadly, she won two Razzies later on in her career for the movies Mommie Dearest and The Temp.
