Jake Paul and Tana Mongeau Just Got Engaged, But Fans Are Skeptical

The couple opted to get tally marks for every week they'd been together, which added up to a whopping seven whole tallies. That might seem like a pretty serious step to take together, but it looks like Tana and Jake are all about serious.

Tana just turned 21, and despite just "seeing where it goes," Jake had some big surprises in store for her birthday celebration. Not only did he buy her a Mercedes (you read that right) he also got her an engagement ring.

Tana shared these pictures onto her Instagram story — one of an elaborate wedding cake that reads, "Will you marry me, Tana?" and one of a huge diamond glittering on her left hand's ring finger.

Fans were immediately skeptical, given the couple's shady history. People demanded pictures, or said that they were just doing this for attention.

Well, we have the pictures, but the jury's still out on the attention claim...

She tweeted out explicitly that it wasn't a joke, but that doesn't necessarily mean she's telling the truth. Jake has pulled this kind of stunt before, going as far as faking an entire wedding with his then-girlfriend, only to reveal it all as a joke later.

The proof, according to founder of The Diamond Co. Ira Weissman, lies in the video Tana posted of herself showing off the sparkly, huge diamond ring that Jake proposed with.

Weissman told E! News that there was a lot shady about this video.

"You can see the exaggerated sparkling light reflecting off of something in the bottom right of the frame in the beginning of the clip. This is exactly what you would want to use to try to enhance the sparkle of a simulated diamond to make it look like the real thing," he says.

"Plus, the glassy look of the very large center stone as it's brought closer to the camera also points heavily towards it being a cubic zirconia."

Tana's ex girlfriend, singer/actress Bella Thorne, shared these images of herself crying on her Instagram with the caption "When ur ex gets engaged" followed by a string of crying emojis.

Bella also shared this steamy shot of the former couple in happier times, captioning it "Through thick and thin. I love you tana happy bday you beautiful beautiful special girl."

When someone suggested Jake should make Tana sign a prenup, Bella responded that HE was the one who should sign instead.
